Description of Job
The purpose of the Structural Trades Department at ASU is to fabricate, install, repair or renovate structures and utilities on our campus utilizing professional and technical skills in carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, glazing, doors and locks. Specific duties of this position will include:
Manage and maintain electronic locks and scheduling, pins lock cylinders, cut hard keys
Update and maintain the key structure according to the keying system
Create and document credentials for electronic access
Remove and replace of doors and hardware
Perform skilled journeyman level carpentry work
Design and layout projects
orders materials and participates in the construction, alteration, maintenance and repair of state buildings.
Repair and replace damaged window glazing, cut glass, set window glass and frames
Transport glass and glass units
Work with glass repair vendors for glass repairs that can't be handled in-house
Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical problems including but not limited to ballasts, switches, receptacles, device covers, breakers, controls for motors and equipment
Repair and maintain air handler units, roof top unites, and heating systems, including boilers, control valves, thermostats and piping
Perform maintenance on the campus plumbing system including but not limited to fixture and hardware repair or replacement
work with the Colorado 811 system to stay in compliance with locating utilities across campus property
Receive, respond, and close out locate tickets sent through the 811 system in the allotted time frame
This position requires Exertion up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience Only:
Four (4) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position
OR
Education and Experience:
A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to four (4) years
Required Competencies:
Strong work ethic, integrity and dependability;
Ability to follow policies to include sound tool control practices;
Sound judgment and decision-making skills;
Proficiency in building and grounds maintenance;
Willingness and ability to effectively communicate while working with individual departments and in groups, providing verbal and/or written instructions, monitoring project progress and compliance, in a highly regulated environment with firm deadlines and mandatory reporting and record-keeping regulations;
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively cooperate with other staff and inspire teamwork;
Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work in high, tight and confined spaces; outside during inclement weather and in close proximity to industrial equipment;
Proficiency with technology such as Google Suite and ERP systems.

Related State of Colorado work experience;
Related building/equipment repair employment experience within the last 5 years

Years of experience will be expressed in terms of full-time equivalent service with full-time workload equal to one (1) Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) year. No more that 1.00 FTE year may be credited in any twelve (12) month period. Positions working 40 hours or less per week will be pro-rated (30 hrs/wk=0.75 FTE=9 mos credit; 20 hrs/wk=0.5 FTE=6 mos credit; 10 hrs/wk=0.25 FTE= 3 mos credit.)
