  The Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) group is looking for a Flight Test Engineer to join our Flight Test and Evaluation team in China Lake, California.

  Naval Air Weapons Station (NAWS) China Lake provides and maintains land, facilities and other assets that support the Navy’s research, development, acquisition, testing and evaluation (RDAT&E) of cutting-edge weapons systems for the warfighter.

  NAWS China Lake is adjacent to the city of Ridgecrest and is located in the Western Mojave Desert region of California, approximately 150 miles north of Los Angeles. NAWS China Lake is one of the largest military installations in the world. In total, its main site and two ranges cover more than 1.1 million acres, an area larger than the state of Rhode Island.

  The primary program supported by The Boeing Company on NAWS China Lake is the F/A-18 multirole strike fighter and the EA-18 variant. Boeing works directly with our Navy customer supporting its mission to improve the warfighting capabilities of the F/A-18 and EA-18G through system integration, development, test and evaluation of electronic and weapon systems.

  The site is comprised of employees from across the Boeing enterprise including Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E), Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), and Boeing Global Services (BGS). Our site works on programs for the US Military and Foreign Military Sales customers. The diverse team at China Lake is extremely motivated, skilled, knowledgeable, and highly valued by its customers and business partners.

  Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate, Mid-Level and Senior level Flight Test Engineers.

  Position Responsibilities:

  Responsible for test planning, execution, and analysis of flight, ground, and laboratory tests of electronic and weapon systems on F/A-18s, EA-18s, or their subsystems

  Applies general knowledge of aircraft systems (e.g., avionics, hydraulic, electrical, egress systems), components (e.g., multifunction displays wing, engine, landing gear transmission), and loadable/non-loadable software (e.g., radar operational programs, inertial navigation programs, operational flight programs)

  Evaluates results against customer and design specification

  Supports testing to verify system behavior and integration into platform

  Participates on test and analysis teams; provides guidance and recommendations to test conductors, engineers, technicians, maintainers, customers, and management to ensure program and test objectives are achieved

  Interfaces with the customer and management at test coordination and/or technical interface meetings to provide findings and recommendations

  Builds customer trust by being available for technical consultation and troubleshooting assistance when requested by the customer

  This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

  This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

  Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  Engineering experience with tactical fixed wing aircraft

  Experience working with Flight Test

  Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  Master’s Degree in Engineering

  Prior F/A-18 and/or EA-18G mission system experience

  Typical Education/Experience:

  Associate (level 2)

  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master).

  In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

  Mid-Level (Level 3)

  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).

  In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

  Senior (level 4)

  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).

  In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

  Relocation:

  This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

  Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

  Summary pay range for associate level: $80,850-$116,150

  Summary pay range for mid-level: $102,000-$138,000

  Summary pay range for senior level: $121,550-$164,450

  Export Control Requirements: U.S. Government Export Control Status: This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.

  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
