As a Qualcomm Systems Engineer, you will research, design, develop, simulate, and/or validate systems-level software, hardware, architecture, algorithms, and solutions that enables the development of cutting-edge technology. Qualcomm Systems Engineers collaborate across functional teams to meet and exceed system-level requirements and standards.

  Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

  OR

  Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

  OR

  PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  4+ years’ R&D experience in related areas

  Strong fundamentals in linear algebra, probability theory, statistics and signal processing

  Strong programming skills with Python, MATLAB, C/C++ 6+ years’ work experience in Robotics, Autonomy or related areas

  4+ years’ algorithm development experience in Ego Motion, Localization or Road & Environment Model

  Prior experience in lead roles related to systems engineering

  Significant expertise in system design, algorithm development & C++ implementation

  Technical expertise in many of the areas below:

  Road and semantic road design & development utilizing sensors (camera/lidar), HD map and/or a combination

  Localization and mapping expertise & familiarity with GPS/GNSS, Dead reckoning, HD Maps, and other sensors

  Deep learning algorithm design and application to automotive use cases

  Computer vision background in feature detection and tracking, multi-view geometry, SLAM, and VO/VIO

  Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leverages advanced Systems knowledge and experience to research, design, develop, simulate, and/or validate systems-level software, hardware, architecture, algorithms, and solutions while ensuring system-level requirements and standards are met.

  • Performs complex functional analysis to drive requirements and specifications and to define and align with standards for hardware and software.

  • Develops and analyzes complex system level design including requirements, interface definition, functional/performance definition, and implementation of a new system or modification of an existing system.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams (e.g., product management teams, engineering teams, etc.) to complete project work, including implementing and verifying the system.

  • Develops algorithms and works on new and innovative ideas (e.g. IDFs) for a product or feature area.

  • Drives triage of complex problems at the system level to determine root cause and presents results of testing and debugging to internal and external stakeholders.

  Level of Responsibility:

  • Works independently with minimal supervision.

  • Decision-making may affect work beyond immediate work group.

  • Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information. May require negotiation, influence, tact, etc.

  • Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to make key decisions).

  • Tasks do not have defined steps; planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.

  Pay range:

  $126,000.00 - $189,000.00

  The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
