  DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:The Facilities Mechanic is responsible for all maintenance-related tasks required for maintaining and operating support systems necessary for the operation of a crystal growth facility. This position is also responsible for the general maintenance and repair of office environments and the associated support equipment. As this is a team environment and this position will interact with all levels of the company, it is essential that the holder of this position be able to interact with others in a professional manner. The differentiation of the position levels is based on the expected level of experience, knowledge, and understanding of the tasks outlined below.

  Primary Duties & Responsibilities* Installation, operation, repair and maintenance of building support systems such as:* Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC* Compressors and distribution equipment* Vacuum pumps* Building control systems* De-ionized water production equipment* Acid Neutralization systems* Slurry separation systems* Chemical delivery systems* Routine monitoring of equipment performance via checklists and other methods of data collection* Handling, sorting, and disposal of solid and liquid chemical wastes generated

  ADDITIONAL DUTIES:* Office furniture installations, reconfigurations, and removal* Emergency Response Team member* Painting and wall repairs* Picture and display hanging* Employee assistance* Cafeteria facilities support* Equipment and production area moves* Laboratory fabrication and modification

  Education & Experience* Minimum 2 - 3 years of directly applicable experience* High School Graduate or equivalent, technical school preferred* Semiconductor fabrication facility maintenance background is a plus* Computer literate* Valid Driver's License required

  Skills* Leadership capabilities to be a self starter, and take initiative to make judgement calls for repairs, and replacement of equipment* Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills.* Strong troubleshooting and reasoning skills to solve facility related issues* Ability to use testing meters and equipment to determine issues with facility related equipment.* Team oriented to work effectively with other members of the Coherent Corporation team.* An understanding of Chillers and Process cooling equipment

  Working Conditions* Environment can be dirty, dusty, greasy, etc.

  Physical Requirements* Employee must be able to pick up - motors, pumps and piping, up to 50lbs

  Safety RequirementsAll employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corporate EHS standards.

  Quality and Environmental ResponsibilitiesDepending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
