SUMMARY:
A network administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer network systems in a fast-paced enterprise-level environment. This includes the hardware, software, and other related equipment that allows communication between devices, users, and other networks. Support day-to-day operations and maintenance. Perform Trend analysis, identify top few incidents and work with respective teams/individual to minimize the incidents. Some of the specific duties and responsibilities of a network administrator may include:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning and designing large-scale computer networks: This involves evaluating the organization's needs and determining the appropriate network topology, hardware, and software.
Installing and configuring computer network equipment: This includes setting up routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
Monitoring network performance: A network administrator must monitor network activity to identify problems and ensure the network is operating efficiently.
Troubleshooting network problems: When network issues arise, a network administrator must diagnose and resolve the problem.
Upgrading network software and hardware: As new technology becomes available, a network administrator must evaluate and implement upgrades to keep the network up to date.
Managing network security: A network administrator must ensure the network is secure by implementing security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and virus protection software.
Backing up and restoring data: A network administrator must establish procedures for backing up critical data and restoring it in the event of a network failure.
Providing technical support: A network administrator must provide technical support to users who experience problems with the network or related software.
Training users: A network administrator may need to provide training to users on how to use the network and related software.
Participate in the planning, approval and implementation of approved Change Management requests.
Interface with internal customers as well as other technical teams to support corporate projects and business requirements as needed.
Work with regional team for designing and implementing networking, server and storage solutions.
Be responsible for preparing the SOP's and update them regularly; prepare knowledge-based articles for sharing across the team.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
May determine methods and procedures on new assignments and provide guidance to nonexempt personnel.
JOB COMPLEXITY:
Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong background in designing and implementing Local Area Networks (LAN).
Hands-on experience on configuration and troubleshooting Cisco Catalyst and Aruba appliances.
Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP Networking.
Strong Knowledge in Cisco Routing and Switching, and network architecture planning.
Knowledge in VPN technologies, IPSEC, SSL, OSPF, EIGRP, IP Multicasting.
Knowledge in Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) IEEE standards: 802.11 a/b/g/n.
Knowledge in wired data transport mediums including CAT6 and fiber optics.
An understanding of Private Branch Exchange telephony including Avaya/Cisco.
Installation and troubleshooting skills for Wintel systems, knowledge in hardening and securing of Wintel systems.
Administration and knowledge of Windows server with active directory, DNS, DHCP and High Availability.
Advanced troubleshooting skills and experience and be able to produce detailed technical documentation.
Demonstrated capacity to understand and communicate technical ideas, concepts, and thoughts across multiple technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal), be a team player with a positive, pro-active, and self-motivating attitude and possess the ability to operate across multiple discipline groups.
Demonstrated ability to independently determine and develop approach to solutions.
Certifications in CCNA, CCNP, MCSE preferred
