JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is lookingfor a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Information Systems Analyst (IT field services/AV Support).
Reporting to the Section Head, Information Systems, this position is responsible for assisting clients in defining their emerging and existing business requirements to meet their business needs. Assess, provide, and support all but the most complex information technology systems and products and related services to fulfill their business needs. Support the IT business plan process enhancement demand planning, project initiation, support for project rollout and support of service improvements initiatives. Provide consultative, advisory, training, and educational services, and act as a team leader on complex activities. Oversee the work of internal and external IT resources. *KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES *
AV Support and Teams Meeting Room Management:
Provide comprehensive AV support, focusing on Teams Meeting Rooms to ensure seamless virtual and in-person collaboration.
Setup, configure, and maintain audio-visual equipment in Teams Meeting Rooms.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues promptly to minimize disruptions during meetings.
Collaborate with IT teams to integrate Teams Meeting Rooms with other organizational systems.
Knowledge of industry best practices
Maintaining the standards within the organization.
Documenting standards, support, and training
Participate and support the assembly development of business requirements for project feasibility and release proposals, business cases, and post implementation reviews of projects.
Provide support for project management, technical leadership and system expertise to projects and teams involved in the design, development, deployment, and support of advanced information systems or tools. Assist in project rollout activities, user acceptance testing, and post implementation reviews.
As a service delivery IT professional collaborate with business on IT services to assist in assuring that service demands and service delivery levels are aligned with business' needs. Demonstrate and report to business leaders that IT services are aligned to business needs through IT service performance reports and dashboards and established Operating Level Agreements. Provide advice and guidance to site staff regarding IT policy and procedure interpretation and attempt to ensure they are complied with.
Perform system administration functions. In the IT service delivery role, develop operational practices and procedures required for the secure operation and management of systems and tools, ensuring compliance to corporate technical & security standards. Implement measures to effectively manage the security and configuration integrity of systems. Perform ongoing audits to assess compliance or required improvements. Prepare, update, and manage operations documentation (e.g., installation specifications, commissioning procedures, configuration drawings).
Participates and support service delivery improvement initiatives. Identify, investigate, and propose opportunities for IT cost reductions. Support the automation of work process for the effective delivery of IT services.
Prepare written reports and prepare and sign correspondence dealing with technical issues. For simple to medium-complex projects, prepare correspondence on financial issues, commitment of resources, work schedules, and proposals. Conduct or participate in planning and review meetings, involving technical staff and line management representing user departments and various information technology departments. Prepare and review specifications, proposals, investigative reports, business case documents, design documents, maintenance documentation, operating instructions, and user manuals.
Within the general context of the job responsibilities, make suggestions to the supervisor on how to improve the team's effectiveness and efficiency.
Application Services
Provide consultative services and specialized expertise in information-technology areas. Assist, and provide guidance to, users and line management in the availability and use of information technology. Provide specialized expertise in the use of facility software, including compilers, utilities, program libraries, operating-system facilities, data-transfer and Data storage facilities, and database management system facilities. Provide specialized expert advice concerning program and database design, and the deployment and utilization of integrated information technology products and related services. Assist information technology staff and open-shop users in resolving problems related to programming, program design, or production use of programs and data. Develop and maintain standards, procedures, methodologies, and tools for information-technology staff.
Carry out design, development, implementation, and maintenance activities for simple to medium-complex systems or databases. Maintain library files for software in production use. Advise and assist users concerning the production use of systems, products, or databases. Implement and document enhancements and changes to meet new user needs. Analyze trouble reports and implement corrective actions. Resolve emergency problems under time constraints. Identify latent problems and implement changes to eliminate or bypass them. Assist in the assignment of priorities to maintenance tasks.
Provide training and education for simple to complex products, systems, or databases. Prepare user instructions in the form of written documentation (manuals and on-line user aids) and demonstrate usage. Identify the training needs of user staff and information-technology staff. Define training courses and formulate their content. Prepare training materials. Conduct classroom sessions. Provide individualized instruction and act as a resource person for self-instruction courses.
Provide technical notes and guidelines on selection, acquisition, migration, usage, and application of all but the most complex information technology products and related services. Provide product and product usage and application assistance and problem resolution services.
Asset Management & Telecom Support
Participate in the negotiation and administration of vendor contracts and license maintenance agreements. Manage spare parts and purchase miscellaneous goods and services as required to maintain operational integrity, availability, and reliability.
Maintain asset inventory information compliant with CIO standards and tools. In the IT service delivery role, review requirements from OPG staff for IT Asset Requests and recommend solutions. Review requirements for system enhancement requests with the Business, managing enhancement demand to maximize business value at minimum cost.
Assign work to staff assisting in the work and schedule their activities. Provide guidance in techniques and methods of programming, design, and documentation. Monitor the quality of work performed. Identify the training needs of staff and provide input to line supervisors for the preparation of training plans. Refer human resource matters to supervisor for resolution.
Site Based IT Support
Maintain and support site/plant/corporate IT systems. Plan, install, maintain, manage, and administer the delivery of IT services. Commission and perform assurance testing of applications, databases, systems, and networks deployed. Provide second level technical support to operations and maintenance staff. Provide support, and oversight to internal or external staff engaged in the delivery of IT services.
Manage the evolution of existing IT environment, by implementing upgrades or enhancements to provide additional system functionality, problem correction, reliability, and maintainability. Contribute to the development of the plant/site's/corporate infrastructure, including telecommunications, systems, security, disaster recovery, and facilities. Co-ordinate & execute equipment replacements and upgrades as per CIO annual refresh plans for servers, networks, desktops/laptops, PBX's, voice systems, backup power systems, network cabling etc.
Ensure compliance with OPG's Contractor Management program while in the IT service delivery role, by acting as contract administrator and site monitor for key vendors, ensuring safe work practices, validating job safety plans etc.
Other duties as required.
EDUCATION
4 years of University education in Computer Science, or by having the equivalent level of education.
QUALIFICATIONS
A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years is considerednecessary to gain this experience.
Requires knowledge of the principles of computing equipment, methods, systems analysis and design, data management, work simplification, communications, and computer programming to enable creative logical reasoning in regard to the design and effective use of systems and databases, computer programming activities, and related matters.
Requires experience to obtain knowledge of the clients' organizations, functions of the application systems, databases, products, computers, communications, and associated equipment.
Requires additional experience to operate at a senior level, and to become familiar with responsibilities related to project leadership.
Requires experience to perform an advisory function to the line of business, to be able to define clients' information technology requirements and advice regarding the selection and application of computer systems and equipment.
Requires experience to understand new and existing information processing concepts, computer and communications equipment, and software.
Requires experience within the business unit to obtain knowledge of the functions of the systems as well as the processes, policies, and procedures.
Requires knowledge of computer science to gain an appreciation of design concepts related to computing equipment and software, in order to provide computerized solutions to varying OPG requirements.
Requires good verbal and written communications skills, to coordinate the needs of clients, suppliers, and divisional staff.
