  SUMMARY STATEMENT:

  Reporting directly to the Manager, Audio-Visual Production and Services, the Senior Audio- Visual Technician is part of the newly-formed Digital Division. Working closely with the manager, the Senior Audio-Visual Technician will take a lead role in providing audio-visual support for the Museum's events, as well as help move our live offerings into the digital platforms by live streaming special events to our community and global audiences.

  They will be responsible for taking ownership in providing timely support for audio-visual services and systems in our event spaces, live stages, theaters, and public spaces throughout the Museum's campus. This role will also carry us towards our goal of reaching 100M people globally by 2030 by taking our live, in-person content into digital delivery platforms and facilitating live streaming, virtual, and hybrid event offerings. Strong customer service skills are important in this role to providing high- end support to ensure we continue to build our digital footprint and make the Museum a desirable place for events and live content.

  RESPONSIBILITIES:

  Provide audio-visual support for special events, webcasts, functions, and high-level meetings (both in-person and hybrid) across the museum campus by setting up and breaking down equipment such as projectors, video monitors, cameras, sound systems, and other related equipment to offer a positive experience to guests, clients, VIPs, and staff. This may also involve managing media for use in an event or live production.

  Contribute to our Museum goal of reaching 100M people globally by 2030 by taking key roles in webcasting special events and programs to help deliver public science learning in Museum, in schools, and online. These key roles include audio engineering, technical directing, streaming supervisor, and camera operator.

  Guarantee proper delivery of audio-visual services by leading production meetings with stakeholders, both internal and external, to provide a positive experience for our guests and community, as well as to help visiting performance artists to realize their vision.

  Continually improve our audio-visual offerings by working with the manager to plan and implement the installation, maintenance, and repair of audio-visual equipment in our production studios and event spaces to keep our facilities up to date with new technology. Maintain a thorough knowledge of current audio-visual industry trends and best practices to make recommendations on improvement.

  Provide training and guidance for new AV Technicians to expand institutional knowledge and develop good technical service skills.

  Support Museum staff by responding promptly to audio visual requests and incidents. Manage intake of audio- visual request forms and develop event coverage schedules with other Sr. Audio-Visual Technicians to ensure all event support needs are met.

  Take ownership of relationships with external vendors and freelancers in order to fill any coverage gaps.

  Ensure accurate tracking of museum equipment assets by maintaining an up-to-date inventory of all equipment and advise the manager on purchasing priorities.

  WORK SCHEDULE:

  This position is regular, full-time, 40 hours a week. Monday-Friday. Flexible hours are a must; some holidays, evenings, and weekends included. Some overtime will be required.

  Manager, Audio/Visual Production and Services

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  Experience with installation and operation of audio-visual and computer equipment in a networked PC/MacOS environment.

  Technical knowledge of theatre and presentation systems.

  Extensive knowledge of webcast formats and streaming equipment, including encoders, production switchers, and streaming platforms such as YouTube.

  Ability to operate a video switcher and technical direct a 1-3 camera live stream.

  Demonstrated ability to operate a mixing console with upwards of 24 channels in a live environment.

  Basic ability to operate a camera, including zoom, focus, framing, and exposure.

  Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments and tasks.

  Demonstrated sense of leadership and teamwork.

  Ability to work closely within a team environment but also operate independently to solve problems.

  Strong written and oral skills for communicating with high-level stakeholders.

  5 or more years of audio/visual support experience.

  Post high school course work, technical degree, associate's degree, business or vocational certificate.

  SPECIAL SKILLS

  Experience with video-editing software, Adobe Premiere Pro preferred.

  Experience with audio-editing software and mixing multi-track recordings.

  Experience with audio podcasting and voiceover recording.

  Experience with theater lighting and plotting lighting systems.

  STARTING SALARY:

  Non-Exempt (Hourly). $23-27/hour
