JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Career Services (https://studentaffairs.psu.edu/career) is seeking a Senior Associate Director to join their team. This position will be responsible for overseeing the student services and programs division of Career Services by supervising the Assistant Director of Career Counseling and the Assistant Director of Programs and Events as well as managing the day-to-day issues and concerns that arise from this division consisting of 10 full-time staff, 5 graduate assistants, 6-8 graduate interns, and 5-7 undergraduate student workers. The Senior Associate Director of Career Services will assist the Senior Director of Career Services in leading and managing Penn State Career Services.

Reporting to the Senior Director, of Career Services, responsibilities include:
Supervision
Oversee the student services and programs division of Career Services that offers career counseling services, educational programs, special events, and career fairs.
Supervise two Assistant Directors of Career Services responsible for the day-to-day management of full-time staff, graduate assistants, interns and undergraduate workers.
Plan and facilitate ongoing student services meetings uniting staff members from the Career Counseling unit and the Programs and Events unit.
Provide system–wide support and training for para-professional and professional staff.
Serve as the director in the absence of the Senior Director.
Administration
Assist the Senior Director in producing an annual report, managing the strategic plan, and budget planning and forecasting.
Serve as the administrative liaison to auxiliary units including Student Affairs Research & Assessment (SARA), Student Affairs IT (SAIT), and Student Affairs Marketing and Communications.
Lead and coordinate an assessment plan that measures the satisfaction and career readiness impact of the student services and programs division in Career Services.
Responsible for serving as the administrative representative on the University-wide Post Graduation Survey committee.
Assist the Center in delivering workshops and special events, covering drop-in career coaching sessions, and participating in all-hands-on events such as career fairs.
Typical Education & Experience
10+ years of related experience in career services management
Master’s Degree or higher in Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, Student Affairs, Higher Education, or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A doctoral degree is preferred.
Required Certifications, Registrations or Licensure:
MAY require a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) or Licensed Professional Counselor
Prefer counseling license or certification if Master's only
Successful candidates must have professional staff supervisory experience and demonstrate effective time management, administrative, and interpersonal skills. Must demonstrate a commitment to the development of a community where diversity and sustainability are valued.
This position offers a flexible work arrangement that allows one remote work day a week. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.
