This role will work remote-telework but may be asked to come into the local office from time to time for important meetings, strategy or projects. Position is 95% remote-telework. US Citizenship is required to apply. We have offices in Fort Worth, TX, Germantown, MD and Chantilly, VA.
Senior Accountant
Prepares recurring and one-off journal entries into Costpoint to record corporate cash activity timely and accurately. Verifies the proper distribution of charges to specific accounts and contracts.
Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations timely and accurately in Blackline that include proper supporting documentation.
Applies learned knowledge of practices and procedures to deal with issues or research problems that require further definition before resolution. Understands the flow of cash transactions within the financial and business operations. Maintain accounts in accordance with US generally accepted accounting principles.
Researches and works with other departments to resolve and clear reconciling items.
Adhere to policies and procedures to promote a strong internal controls environment.
Prepares audit schedules, reports and other financial data for internal/external auditors and departments.
Creates and maintains files within the existing financial software, as well as assist in the testing of financial upgrades.
Maintains and establishes accounting codes.
Responds timely to requests related to external auditors and DCAA incurred cost submissions.
Performs month end and year-end closings tasks.
Reviews work prepared by others and provides constructive comments and/or suggestions to foster efficiencies and improvements for the department. Provides training and support to accounting staff members on an as needed basis.
Conducts studies and submit recommendations for improving the organization’s accounting processes. Documents accounting processes and procedures.
Consultants to implement accounting functions during phase-in of a new contract or system.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting and at least 5 years of job-related experience or equivalent.
Working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; proficient Excel skills, including pivot tables, filtering, and formulas.
Good organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.
Logical, critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting principles (GAAP) required.
Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Joint Travel Regulations (JTR), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and other government contracting experience.
Ability to perform data extraction and manipulation, analyze financial data, and generate reports.
Ability to analyze variances to budgets/forecasts/accruals, explain to management, and create corrective action plan.
Demonstrate proficiency in finance and accounting relational databases and Microsoft applications.
Ability to work with numbers and complete assignments with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
Good interpersonal skills; must be flexible and work collaboratively in a team environment.
Dependable self-started with ability to multi-task.
Able to work in a dynamic environment, work with little supervision, and work well under pressure.
Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the organization.
Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Knowledge/Certifications:
CPA certification or equivalent experience preferred.
Prefer at least two (2) years in government contract accounting experience.
Knowledge of Costpoint, Cognos and Blackline a plus.
