Power Delivery Distribution Specialist Job Description
Location: Valdosta Distribution Area/South Georgia – Albany / Bainbridge area
Job Summary
This position is responsible for supporting day to day engineering and construction activities for the distribution area. The candidate must establish and maintain strong working relationships with distribution area construction and engineering teams. The candidate must provide superior customer service and be able to ensure jobs are ready for construction before committed service dates. The candidate will:
Be the main point of contact for general distribution supervisor specific construction related customer contact and follow up ARMS orders
Spend quality time with engineers on the job sites and in the office discussing the planning and scope of their projects
Field check jobs for site readiness prior to sending out construction crews to work the project
Main distribution contact for incident support (e.g., oil spills and damage claims)
Support troublemen scheduling efforts using the Schedule Anywhere tool
Assist engineers with scheduling outages and other customer initiated switching requests
Coordinate distribution projects with other utilities
Perform field checks in support of the DWO closeout process
Manage communication and coordination between customer and storeroom (e.g., meters, conduit, etc.)
Candidate must currently live within a reasonable, daily commuting distance to the selected area OR be willing to immediately relocate to be within commuting distance. Relocation assistance is available
Job Requirements
Education Level & Experience Requirements
High School education or equivalent
Extensive Distribution engineering and/or construction experience required, maintenance, overhead, and underground construction knowledge.
Minimum of 5 years of distribution construction and/or related engineering experience with a power utility company strongly preferred
Job Responsibilities
Promote a culture of safety excellence by actively caring, understanding and supporting critical risk plans, utilizing HP tools (including quality JSBs), following Section “0”, and actively participating in statewide sharing and local safety meetings.
Develop strong collaboration between crew and engineering teams to provide world class value to customers
Respond consistently in outage situations and participate in the distribution area’s SERP plan. Must be available for extended out-of-town Storm duty outside service area. Candidate must be available for "on-call" supervisor rotation.
Attend OHQs scheduling meetings
Provide construction support and expertise to the local engineering teams
Be the coordinator for special projects in your area
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge, design and operation of electric distribution systems preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of Distribution System Applications (i.e., Mapping Applications, ARMS, Material / Labor Estimating Systems, NJUNS).
Knowledge of electrical system operations, distribution systems, underground and overhead construction practices preferred.
Adhere to Distribution Procedures, Distribution Bulletins, OSHA and NESC rules, and Southern Company distribution construction standards.
Candidate should possess knowledge of general engineering and construction principles.
Knowledge of MS office products and other related engineering Software systems preferred.
Experience in handling customer claims and Property Damage process is a plus.
Ability to prioritize and organize work.

This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle. The following will be required if you are selected for this position:
Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver’s license).
Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
