  Boeing’s Safety Management System (SMS) team is seeking Safety Management System Engineers (Level 2 or Level 3) to join our team in San Antonio, Texas. This role will support the on-going implementation and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System within Boeing Global Services (BGS).

  Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including associate or experienced Safety Management System Engineers.

  An ideal fit for this position has engineering background and experience interfacing with multiple and varied functions. Strong team leadership skills and a desire to work with a large degree of autonomy. Strong communication skills are critical as this role communicates and interfaces regularly with vice president level leaders through working level teams.

  Previous experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and 14 CFR Part 5 regulations is preferred; however, candidates with an eagerness to learn and develop expertise in these areas are eligible to apply.

  Position Responsibilities:

  Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify basic lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions

  Evaluates customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces

  Performs analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture

  Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success

  Supports the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes

  This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location option. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

  This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

  Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  2+ years of engineering experience

  Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  Previous experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and 14 CFR Part 5 regulations

  Strong leadership skills

  Strong communication skills

  Typical Education/Experience:

  Associate (Level 2):

  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

  Experienced (Level 3):

  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

  Relocation:

  Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

  This position will be first shift.

  Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

  Summary pay range associate: $81,600 – $118,450

  Summary pay range mid-level: $97,750 - $141,450
