Summary
The Research Scientist will contribute to the Adaptive Technologies for Force Readiness (ATFR) contract supporting AFRL/RHW. The ATFR program provides the Air Force with a wide range of research into advanced technologies such as advancing Warfighters’ ability to effectively team with autonomous agents in dynamic mission environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support research into the metrics, behaviors, and skills that will ensure successful collaboration between humans and autonomous agent teammates. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary team of software engineers to identify requirements for research databases, with subject matter experts to identify training system requirements, with military personnel to understand the domain and collect training research data, and other researchers to design studies, collect and analyze data, and report results. The Research Scientist will perform all aspects of research administration including, but not limited to:
Supporting experimental design and protocol preparation for Institutional Review Board (IRB) review
Preparation and administration of research tools
Data collection and entry
Working with large, iterative databases
Performing/interpreting statistical data analysis
Documenting research results through technical reports and papers
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Candidates working towards or having completed either a Masters or Doctorate degree in Human Factors Psychology or related discipline (e.g., Cognitive Psychology, I/O Psychology, Experimental Psychology, etc.)
Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a research lab setting
Minimum 4 years’ experience in data management and analysis
Extensive experience conducting literature reviews and creating annotated bibliographies
Proficient with SPSS, R, or equivalent statistical and data analysis programs
Have experience in report writing and publishing journal articles
Must be detail-oriented, a self-starter, able to multi-task, and have highly developed skills in interpersonal communications and organization
Able to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance
US Citizenship is required

Preferred Skills
Previous experience collaborating with software engineers and subject matter experts in related to Human System Integration
Extensive experience with statistics and relevant analyses for research in applied domains
Previous experience working on projects for the military
Experience executing IRB-approved research protocols
Familiarity with one or more common programming languages (Python, R, C++, JavaScript, etc.)
Security Responsibilities
Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.
Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This role will also work in testbed environments where aircraft simulators are in use.
