OverviewThis position is for a clinical higher education Case Manager providing direct support for students who live on-campus. This is a new position, and the successful candidate will be embedded in Residence Life, working with students and embedded clinical therapists.
This position will be a full-time, benefited, 10-month position (August-May), with evening hours and after-hour on-call rotations (on-call for a total of 10 weeks per year; on-call service will be triaged by an external call center. This position can be worked in an 8-hour/5-day shift (1pm-10pm) or a 10-hour/4-day shift (11am-10pm) Monday through Friday.
ResponsibilitiesThe CARE Manager assists students in navigating the Utah State University systems, resources, and policies. CARE Managers meet with students to provide one-on-one support, assess resource needs, assess for risk to themselves or others, and connect them with resources (on-campus or in the community).
This position operates under an urgent-care model, prioritizing immediate mental health crisis support and same-day access to CARE resource-navigation appointments and limited appointments scheduled in advance.
The CARE Manager reports to the Assistant Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards (Chair of the CARE Team), and is housed in the Division of Student Affairs. Please note: this is a non-clinical position working collaboratively with affiliated Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Clinicians to provide urgent and confidential support to Residence Life students. Licensure is preferred but not required to fulfill the duties of this position, however experience in mental health counseling or social work is strongly preferred and our office will support employees seeking licensure.
Main Duties
Assess students for resource needs, identify barriers preventing students from accessing necessary resources, facilitate student access to support services and monitor as necessary to ensure resource needs are met.Provide clinical crisis support, assess students for risk to themselves or others; formulate and implement intervention plans to mitigate risk, enhance student success, and maintain safety of the University communityCoordinate communication with referral sources, providers, and coordination teamsCollect facts pertaining to students of concern, document in a clear, complete, concise and timely manner, and maintain accurate case records.Represent the CARE Office and CARE Team/BIT through outreach presentations, Resident Assistants (RA, student staff) and Residence Director (RD, professional staff) training sessions, Residence Life events or other university functions.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
