Quality Manager (Sinton, TX)
Our client in the mining/ tunneling/civil construction industry experiencing explosive growth, is currently hiring a Quality Manager. Position is a newly created role due to new business and expansion.
Client manufactures a broad range of reliable products, from bolts and beams to channels and trusses, to resin and rebar. Affiliates includes engineering services, resin and rolled-steel manufacturing, custom steel fabrication, roof, miner and specialty bits, chemical roof support and sealing products, and even includes their own trucking company!
JOB SUMMARY:
This is a management position where the employee plans and directs activities with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials and products to ensure continuous steel processing production consistent with established standards, customer specifications, and production goals for a single site steel processing plant. The employee serves as the management representative for the ISO 9001 quality system and technical consultant for the sales department.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
College/University Degree Preferred.
High School Diploma/GED Required.
Three-to-Five (3-5) Years Related Quality Assurance Experience; or equivalent combination of Education and Experience;
CQE or CMQ preferred.
Minimum 2 years ISO 9001 experience required.
Minimum 2 years Steel Service Center experience preferred.
FMEA experience preferred.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Possess proficient knowledge of ISO 9001, quality assurance, OSHA, safety and inspection methods, techniques, and equipment to reason and make judgments to meet deadline sin a high volume production environment.
Possess proficient organizational skills with great attention to detail and quality orientation.
Possess broad –based understanding of properties of carbon steel and its applications.
Possess proficient verbal/ written communication skills to present information.
Possess experience working with high performance sales team.
Possess proficient information gathering and monitoring skills to facilitate effective, unbiased decision-making and problem solving functions.
Possess proficient mathematical ability to provide technical support.
Possess fundamental computer literacy with knowledge of quality assurance/ISO software.
Possess dependability to be consistently at work and on time.
Possess a “Team” mentality with ability to take initiative and maintain confidentiality.
Possess close visual acuity and upper limb coordination with light/medium (5-20lbs) lifting capability during normal phase duties.
Possess ability to sit and stand as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with and communicate with the ISO 9001 auditor as the management representative for the ISO 9001 quality system.
Schedule and prepare for annual ISO 9001 audits and correct any findings generated by the audits.
Review quality issues with the management team during management review meetings.
Collaborate with plant manager to perform internal audits, correct findings and submit required reports.
Maintain ISO 9001 system, create and update policies, procedures, and work instructions.
Provide technical support for sales department and provide technical problem-solving for customers’ support issues.
Review and approve all outside process orders for accuracy and ensure that steel applied meets all specifications of steel ordered.
Generate corrective actions for all credits.
Generate preventative actions and continuous improvement projects.
Correct internally-caused steel procession nonconformities.
Attend corporate training sessions to acquire innovative procedures to maintain contemporary quality assurance/ISO procedures.
Perform any other related duties as assigned by the executive or senior management.
