  Description

  Burns & McDonnell is looking for a Project Manager in the Environmental Services Global Practice to join the Detroit, MI, office to lead civil and environmental engineering projects for clientele within a variety of business sectors including electrical utility, solid waste, manufacturing, remediation, renewable energy, and others.

  The successful candidate will be a seller-doer with demonstrated experience developing and supporting multiple projects from a civil/environmental engineering and remediation perspective as well as managing and completing independent projects. These activities may include proposal development, marketing, developing scopes of work and schedules, providing technical experience in the development of client deliverables, negotiating with regulatory agencies, managing subcontractors, contracts, schedules, and budgets.

  Join a well-established Great Lakes Region team as we grow our services in Michigan and surrounding Midwest states. This individual will enhance our existing civil/environmental engineering presence in the region working closely with established clients across multiple markets. Additionally, the ideal candidate will help expand our civil and environmental engineering services and client base in the region.

  The Project Manager will work within an integrated team within our Environmental Engineering group in the Environmental Services Global Practice (division) to perform the following duties:

  Performing project management responsibilities for manufacturing, transportation, solid waste, Coal Combustion Residual (CCR), and other civil/environmental engineering projects.

  Managing accuracy, budgets, quality, safety, reporting, schedule and client expectations.

  Act as a technical resource for civil/environmental engineering projects.

  Lead multidiscipline engineering design teams for civil/environmental related projects.

  Design of stormwater management facilities and features.

  Client and business development and networking.

  Assisting with and leading proposal and cost estimating efforts for civil and environmental engineering projects.

  Regularly interface with various agencies, clients and team members.

  Mentoring and generally working closely with junior level environmental staff.

  Assist with recruiting, development, and training of staff.

  Other duties, as assigned.

  Qualifications

  Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental or related engineering program from an accredited program.

  Minimum of 7 years of related professional experience. Prefer 20 years of experience with civil and environmental related engineering projects for a variety of clientele including electrical utility, solid waste, manufacturing, mining, and municipal. Prefer 8-yrs experience managing CCR related projects for power generation clients.

  PE License (Michigan preferred)

  Experience with project management, environmental regulation, and agency coordination (EPA, state agencies, etc.) is preferred.

  Experience executing civil/environmental engineering methods and practices in the preparation of bid-ready engineering designs, plans, specifications, estimates and reports.

  Experience directing and reviewing work products prepared by junior engineering staff.

  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information and work effectively with various audiences (including public officials, agency representatives, property owners, businesses, clients, construction contractors, etc.).

  Demonstrated knowledge of civil and environmental engineering methods, permitting process, and construction compliance.

  Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.

  Ability to travel up to 15%, as required.
