  Description

  Position Summary:

  The Drug-Free Communities Project Coordinator works to implement and carry out the Drug Free Communities (DFC) Grant strategic work plan. This person will build a coalition consisting of 12 required sectors by The Drug-free Communities Act and leverage resources to accomplish the strategic plan developed by the coalition. This position requires the person be involved in outreach efforts to Schools, Law Enforcement Agencies, Medical Personnel, community members, Legislators, and others to build interest for participation and direct involvement in the DFC program and the coalitions activities and strategies. Decision-making skills and problem-solving capabilities are therefore essential qualities.

  Person in this position will be responsible for the supervision and management of support staff to include interns and/or AmeriCorps Members necessary to deliver the services described. Essential Job Functions include those listed below

  Essential Job Functions:

  Direct and supervise the work of all assigned support staff members.

  Participate in the interviewing, hiring and terminating of support staff member by providing advice and recommendations to the immediate supervisor, Senior Vice-President for Texas, Director of Human resources and other staff as appropriate.

  Review each employees job performance on a yearly basis (or more often if necessary). Make recommendations to the immediate supervisor regarding employee advancement and retention.

  Responsible for training and supervision of all support staff to include AmeriCorps Members

  Develop staff work schedule and assign daily responsibilities to ensure implementation and completion of activities and events.

  Complete documentation of services in a timely manner.

  Assists other WestCare staff as needed in a collaborative manner to promote cooperation and portray a professional image to the community.

  Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, vision and goals of WestCare Foundation

  Apply SAMHSA Prevention Strategies and the Strategic Prevention Framework in various populations in communities served by the grant

  Implement and coordinate a system for data analysis of coalition activities under direction of Vice President of Evaluation

  Work and communicate well with all community stakeholders

  Develop and foster community relationships to provide substance abuse prevention strategies to all sectors of the community

  Implement DFC grant work plan

  Comply with grant reporting and submission of paperwork as required by SAMHSA and other Funders to include Funders of in-kind and match resources

  Employ excellent written and verbal communication skills needed to communicate information Funders and community members

  Cooperate and collaborate with program staff, volunteers, and other agency staff

  Dependable and punctual regarding scheduling and attendance

  Maintain strong and viable connections between the agency and the larger community

  Perform other program related duties as assigned

  Qualifications

  Essential Qualifications:

  Certifications/Licensures:

  As mandated by Presidential Order all employees of WestCare Foundation, Inc. and all affiliates of WestCare Foundation, Inc. will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 effective 11/1/2021. Employees that have requested a Medical or Religious Exemption, which has been approved by Human Resources will be required to test for the virus weekly. During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you.

  Education:

  A minimum of Bachelors degree in Social Work, Education, Sociology, Psychology, Community Development, or related field

  Experience and Competencies:

  Ability to work collaboratively with others in a manner that is pleasant and professional.

  Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

  Ability to obtain new and leverage existing resources

  Ability to assist and prepare grant applications

  Ability to work well in a team environment

  Ability to exercise good judgement and discretion.

  Ability to operate a computer, operate Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel and complete documents in Microsoft Word programs formats or the ability to learn.

  Ability to respond as needed to crisis situations in an efficient manner.

  Ability to complete work tasks within scheduled work hours.

  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  Willing to seek out new work projects and contribute ideas and efforts to the constant improvement of WestCare Services.

  Working Conditions:

  Tasks may be performed in a residential, office, or outdoor setting.

  Fast paced environment.

  Potential for high noise level at times.

  Some local and out of state travel.

  A minimum of 40 hours per week are expected but significantly more hours will be required from time to time. Completion of job duties may require working before and after normal working hours. Regular attendance is required. Being able to work as many hours as is necessary to complete job tasks is a required and essential duty of this position.
