What we want
The Program Manager, under general supervision, provides program management to multiple key research programs that are overseen by the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies Office. Develops and executes the fiscal management and reporting for two federally funded training grants: the National Institute of Health (NIH-T35) veterinary medical summer research training program (VMSRTP) and the NIH-T32 postdoctoral program for training DVM (doctors of veterinary medicine) in biomedical research. Provides management and logistical support to the Clinical Research Review Committee (CRRC)

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in economics, business management, and/or communications or related areas.
Five years of experience in program coordination, management or related areas.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal, leadership, problem solving, and organizational skills.
Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others .
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in related fields, including but not limited to economics, business management, and/or communications.
Experience with NIH eRA Commons and NIH reporting, and other grants management systems and processes.
Experience with maintaining databases of biomedical trainee outcomes, research metrics, and career milestones and reporting to federal agencies.
Experience supporting compliance and responsible conduct in clinical and translational research.
Experience managing financial accounts and complex grant budgets
Experience with the financial management of travel logistics and expenses for large teams of individuals.
Ability to multi-task, work cooperatively, and communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders in project organization and management, including federal funding agencies and corporate sponsors.
Explain proposed solutions to staff, professional students, and administration through written proposals and oral presentations.
Experience directing programmatic activities, establishing task priorities, scheduling, and tracking work assignments, providing guidance, and ensuring the availability of resources for achieving NIH grant-related aims.
Experience generating annual reports summarizing grant expenditures and progress toward programmatic goals.
Responsibilities:
Financial Administration and Reporting for NIH T32 Training Grant : Provides oversight of the financial administration and reporting for NIH T32 and T35 training grant programs within the college . Provides oversight and preparation of financial records and assigning expenses to appropriate accounts. Prepares competitive renewals and annual progress reports in collaboration with the Principal Investigators, and other official written and verbal correspondence with NIH. Prepares tuition and medical insurance reimbursements and track the spending of trainees’ support funds. Maintains program records and databases. Develops and updates training materials. Assists in identifying and developing new federal training funding opportunities. Plans, develops, and implements recruitment of doctoral trainees into the T32 program. Responds to inquiries regarding program offerings. Coordinates the T32 application process by updating applicant files, tracking application status, distributing applicant profiles to faculty, arranging final acceptance meetings, and overseeing the choice of final Pl laboratories for the students. This requires frequent correspondence with departmental administrators and the admissions office as well as the fiscal office to assure funding sources for all students. Provides oversight of the development, implementation, and maintenance of records and track faculty participation. Compiles and analyzes program statistics . Provides oversight of the T32 Program evaluation and outcomes assessment. Assists in developing strategic plans and goals to support the program. Assists with yearly budgetary and contract processes.
Organizational and Financial Management of the V eterinary Medical Summer Research Training Program (NIH T35): Provides organizational and financial management of the veterinary medical summer research training program (VMSRTP). Plans, organizes, and executes logistics for the VMSRTP, which includes the following: organization of VMSRTP recruitment activities and application process for professional students into the program; distributing applicant profiles to faculty, arranging student candidate interviews with program directors and advisors, and overseeing the selection process of students and their faculty-mentored laboratories for their summer research projects. Provides oversight of the planning and implementation of the 13-week VMSRTP program. Coordinates logistics for weekly meetings. Coordinates and provides financial management of all student and faculty travel, including to the annual national conference (24-28 people). Manages all travel expense reports and reimbursements and reconciliation with TAMU and NIH T35 financial accounts. Assists in developing strategic plans and goals to support the program. Assists with yearly budgetary and contract processes.
Management of Review Processes in C ompliance and Responsible Conduct of Clinical and Translational Research: Provides management and logistics for the review of client informed consent forms by the Clinical Research Review Committee (CRRC) and acts as a liaison between the Division of Research and the CRRC. Manages compliance review by the Institute for Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) to the CRRC from submission to approval (managing pre- and post-meeting correspondences between the PI and the lead reviewer, oversight of reporting through the University’s Integrated Research Information Systems (iRIS) portal).
Research and Training Environment in Research Buildings: Augments research and training environment in the research buildings via strategic coordination with facilities, researchers, trainees, and contractors. Manages monthly research training events.
