The Department of Conservation and Recreation Universal Access Program seeks applicants for the position of Program Coordinator II - Adaptive Recreation Site Facilitator, 40 Cold Storage Dr, Amherst, MA. The Department of Conservation and Recreation's Universal Access Program provides outdoor recreation opportunities in Massachusetts state parks for visitors of all abilities. TheAdaptive Recreation Site Facilitatorcoordinates and monitors accessible program activity sites within DCR properties; reviews, collects, and analyzes data concerning accessibility; provides technical assistance and advice to agency personnel and others; responds to inquiries; and maintains liaison with various operational, design, and engineering offices and personnel within DCR. The basic purpose of this work is to coordinate, monitor, develop and implement programs and assistance to ensure accessibility in recreational settings for people with disabilities. DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinates and monitors accessible program activity sites to ensure compliance with established goals and standards related to creating accessible recreation opportunities for people with disabilities at DCR properties. Collects, reviews and analyzes data concerning agency recreation sites and programs to determine accessibility of existing improvements, to determine effectiveness of upkeep and maintenance schedules, to make recommendations for changes in procedures, standards, or guidelines, and to develop methods of accomplishing program objectives. Provides technical assistance, training, and advice to agency personnel and others concerning accessible programs and sites. Coordinates with the DEI, ADA Coordinator on a regular basis Coordinates with agency personnel and others to exchange information, resolve problems, implement solutions, and to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and standards for accessible recreation. Responds to inquiries from agency staff and others to provide information concerning activity and site accessibility. Maintains liaison with various private, local, state and federal agencies and others as needed in order to exchange information and/or to resolve problems. Attends meetings and conferences, maintains detailed records, and prepares reports. Travels to all regions throughout the Commonwealth to assess accessibility at DCR properties. Provides a seasonal focus for site visits and access implementation that reflects summer/winter activities. Performs related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED AT HIRE Knowledge of the principles and practices of universal, inclusive design and accessibility. Knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment used to create access to recreation for people with disabilities. Knowledge of procedures and equipment used to maintain accessibility of outdoor recreation sites. Knowledge of project management, including scheduling and planning. Knowledge of the methods of record keeping and report writing, including preparing charts, graphs and tables Ability to understand, explain and apply the laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, guidelines, etc. related to accessibility Ability to analyze and determine the applicability of data, to draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations Ability to gather information by examining records and documents, making site visits and observations, and communicating with individuals. Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic records in accordance with established procedures Ability to prepare and use charts, graphs, and tables using Excel and other Microsoft office products. LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class 3 Motor Vehicle Operator’s license is required.
