Summary of the Role
Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is responsible to direct the activities of production team members including work assignments, scheduling, monitoring productivity, facilitating process improvement and provide coaching and support. Key areas of focus are safety, quality, production targets, problem solving, and effective communication.
Responsibilities
Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures
Directs the activities of production team members including work assignments scheduling, monitoring productivity, providing coaching and support as needed;
Responsible for on-going performance management activities including training, feedback, establishing goals and holding team members accountable for results; works with plant managers and HR to take corrective action as required;
Liaison with maintenance personnel to minimize machine downtime by identifying root cause, ensuring timeliness of repair operation, coordinating necessary support departments, and following up on corrective actions;
Promotes a positive employee relations climate by maintaining open communications with production team and practicing effective conflict resolution.
Working closely with cross-functional teams; ensure the timely availability of raw material and components, facilitate schedule changes, and maintain quality standards;
Participate in the identification, investigation and resolution of non-conformance events in accordance with ISO standards;
Assist with the development of, and changes to, Standard Operating Procedures. Train associates with regard to content of any new or revised SOP.
Provide “New Hire” orientation. Deliver or otherwise ensure all new Employees receive prescribed general and work specific safe work training.
Analyze work flow and research new methods and procedures to enhance productivity and maximize efficiency. Formulate process improvements and implement.
Other duties, responsibilities, or tasks as assigned;
Must be willing to cover needed shifts when required (afternoons, days, nights)

Qualifications / Experience
A College diploma or University degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or similar discipline, or a valid Certificate of Qualification in a related metal fabrication, mechanical, or electrical trade is preferred but not mandatory;
A full comprehension and working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and the Employment Standards Act.
A minimum of 1 years experience working within a related Supervisory or Lead Hand role.
Experience working within a similar production environment.
Min. of an intermediate level of computer literacy
