Tasks & responsibilities
In your new role as Product Owner, you will take ownership of Boehringer Ingelheim’s digital systems enabling chemical synthesis planning and execution. You will have the unique opportunity to shape the digital transformation happening in our chemistry labs.
You will collaborate with stakeholders from Discovery Research and Development to identify strategic priorities across the NCE synthesis value chain, e.g. planning, execution and analytics.
By interacting closely with the user community, you will collect demands from daily use and prioritize implementation activities in alignment with the overall roadmap and strategic needs.
You will take responsibility for developing a long-term vision and a roadmap of enhancements for your product, and you will work towards it with a dedicated digital product development team and several external software vendors.
Together with other internal Product Owners, you will be co-responsible for developing a vision of an integrated digital system landscape enabling drug discovery projects and supporting process development activities.
You will work in an agile environment with multiple subject matter experts, system owners and key users within business as well as IT. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to actively contribute to drug design projects as a member of design teams.
Requirements
PhD in chemistry, physics, biochemistry or a related discipline with multiple years of experience in leading projects in R&D
Profound understanding of and experience with organic synthesis in an industrial setting
Proven track-record in small molecule drug discovery and familiarity with medicinal chemistry concepts, or with small molecule drug development and familiarity with chemical and process development concepts
Personnel management skills in a matrix team environment
Excellent interpersonal, communication and mentoring skills paired with an agile and entrepreneurial mindset
Excellent communication and moderation skills in English, written and spoken
