Daktronics manufacturing follows a focus factory concept paralleling four markets: Large Sport Venue, High School Park & Recreation, Commercial, and Transportation. Commercial Manufacturing builds displays for customers including financial institutions, hotels and motels, gaming, auto dealers, convenience stores, shopping centers, outdoor advertisers (billboard), and other retail establishments.
The Sioux Falls Manufacturing Plant supports the billboard and fuel light niches within the Commercial market. The Plant will be responsible for the timely and quality production of digital billboards, fuel lights displays, and additional products as business needs demand. This position will focus on process improvements throughout the plant including electronic assembling, metal shop, and all assembly departments. Additional areas of focus include product improvements and safety.
Serve as liaison between Manufacturing and Engineering to develop and/or improve processes and procedures to reduce scrap, rework, and labor and improve quality. Document the results of evaluations.
Participate as the manufacturing engineer on a value stream team within the factory.
Maintain good attendance and work a schedule necessary to fulfill responsibilities.
Document processes and procedures.
Effectively communicate with and train operators or other Daktronics employees.
Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
Work with design engineering on major product changes and revisions.
Review designs and prototype/first article builds and provide feedback to design engineering on improvements and changes to improve manufacturing.
Research manufacturing capabilities looking for continuous improvement opportunities.
Work effectively as a team member, work with little supervision, and communicate effectively with team members. Consistently complete quality work in a timely manner. Be able to quickly learn new tasks.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
Daktronics experience preferred.
Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes preferred.
Computer software experience to include AutoCAD, ProEngineer preferred but not required.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
Good written and verbal communication skills are essential. Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
Ability to interact with a variety of engineering and manufacturing employees in a positive, professional manner.
Ability to successfully participate as a member of a team. Ability to work with minimum supervision and be a self-starter.
Physical requirements include the ability to:
Lift and carry heavy (up to 45 pounds) and/or awkward items.
Stand and/or sit for the full shift and have full range of motion as required for the position.
Distinguish and identify colors (wires, paint, etc.) as it pertains to the position.
Work with some odors associated with a manufacturing environment (paint, solder, welding, coating, etc.).
Wear all protective equipment as required in work area. Items may include the following: safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, protective garments, etc.
Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
Ability to meet all workplace safety requirements.
