Amazon Air (AIR) is seeking a Principal Supply Chain Manager of Aviation Dangerous Goods (DG to lead the development of AIR’s aviation-centric DG programs and initiatives.
The Principal Manager of Aviation DG serves AIR as the single threaded leader responsible for developing a long-term DG program strategy, standardizing the DG program processes and controls, and acting as a single voice for AIR’s Global Aviation DG needs.
This leader is responsible to identify, develop, and execute DG related standards, goals, and solutions that are safety focused and customer centric. This position will work closely with Amazon’s Training team, Ground Operations teams, Air Cargo, and Partner Air Carriers to develop scalable long-term AIR program improvements.
The Principal Manager will act as a program manager and liaison between the Amazon’s DG Organization teams, Air Cargo team, and Aviation Operations program managers; specifically, program owners of the Weight and Balance, Ramp/Ground Ops Air Carrier Standards, Safety Investigations, Aviation Training, Technical Publications, Oversight Program, and Safety Management Program.
This position will require strong communication with executive leaders, corporate managers, technical product managers, and airline carrier partner leadership. This leader will be responsible for project managing cargo related initiatives that require cross team and company collaboration, scaling existing processes, developing global standards that bond DG related programs across the global network, and developing scalable automation tools. This leader will provide Amazon Air with the necessary mechanisms and resources to meet or exceed all regulations, operational performance goals, and operational metrics. This position will create and report metrics and write various forms of program/project business and safety communications to improve process, safety, and compliance across the overall Amazon Air network.
Key job responsibilities
• Develop DG program structure, standards, and tools to meet the existing and future needs
• Liaison with Air Carrier Partners to manage DG related training courses to align with business needs and regulatory program requirements
• Manage and author AIR’s DG Program Standards Manual, establishing standards across internal and external AIR gateway/Hub locations, global regions, and Air Carrier DG regulatory requirements
• Serve as a DG Liaison to each partner Air Carrier and their DG Program lead
• Serve as AIR’s DG subject matter expert and representative for DG regulatory oversight
• Serve as AIR’s liaison to the Air Cargo team to support business initiatives involving capabilities of operators, vendors, and shippers
• Develop and maintain DG program mechanisms to produce program goals, operational metrics, and project updates
• Manage DG related safety reporting and act as the DG Liaison to the Aviation Safety team
• Manage financial models and cost-structures for DG programs
• Coordinate strategic efforts with executive, operational, and technical leaders
• Develop and manage a DG oversight program
• Establishing scalable and inclusive global DG training currency and qualification program
• Develop scalable, automation-centric training tools
A day in the life
This role's primary focus will be on monitoring the day-to-day operation to ensure the processes and software are working as intended while simultaneously designing and making incremental progress towards AIR's long-term vision for the Dangerous Goods (DG) program. This leader will spend their days project managing, troubleshooting process, investigating safety reports, managing software features, innovating solutions, speaking with airport site leaders, sharing visions with software product managers, writing whitepapers, analyzing metrics, and contributing to Air Safety’s continuous improvement efforts.
About the team
This role is part of the Global Aviation Operations team, which is comprised of Air Safety (SMS), Air Carrier Operations and Programs, Standards, and Oversight Programs. Aviation Operations contributes to Air's Safety Management System (SMS) by managing and producing safety assurance inputs from programs related to aviation, air carrier regulatory programs, and ramp/ground operations (such as the weight and balance, ground ops procedures, technical publications, QA/audits, and ramp safety investigations).

Basic Qualifications
10+ years of program or project management experience
7+ years of managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership experience
7+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
7+ years of working cross functionally across several teams experience
Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
Bachelor's degree
Thorough understanding of Hazardous Material/DG FAA regulations and airline program requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with, presenting to and influencing senior executives up to VP level
MBA
Experience leading and managing a Part 121 Airline or Aviation based DG Program.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
