JOB REQUIREMENTS: POSITION SUMMARY Veit is seeking experienced andsafety-oriented Backhoe Operator to join our team in Milwaukee, WI.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operates heavy equipment ofvarious sizes and weights used in site or highway construction. Properlyfollows company and OSHA safety procedures. Bring problems to theattention of the project Foreman, Superintendent, General Superintendentor Safety Director. Follows daily procedures and protocols as set forthin job orientations and training. Performs routine inspection andpreventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects orneeded repairs to project Foreman, Superintendent, GeneralSuperintendent or Safety Director. Provides backup site supervision inthe absence of Foreman and/or Superintendent. Keep project foreman,superintendent, or general superintendent informed of known actions,written or verbal, which may affect the ability to successfully performtasks at construction project sites or adversely affect Companyoperations. Other projects or duties as assigned by management. REQUIREDKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum of 3 years\' experience operating 100,000+ poundexcavator/backhoe OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, and the ability to followapplicable safety precautions as well as view and understand Veit\'ssafety training video is required. Working knowledge of hazards andsafety precautions common to heavy equipment operations is alsorequired. Considerable knowledge of heavy equipment operatingprinciples. Ability to drive and operate heavy equipment under varyingworking conditions. Ability to read and comprehend grade stakes and/orsite plans. Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts such asfractions, percentages ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistencyas required by management and/or project requirements. OTHER Must beable to pass a pre-employment drug test. Must be able to work 8 to12-hour workdays, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends.
