As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in defining and evolving standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing, and debugging software applications or operating systems.

Responsibilities

As a Principal Software Development Engineer, you will own the software design and development for major components of Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure. You should be both a rock-solid coder and a distributed systems generalist, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low-level systems and design broad distributed system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Minimum Qualifications :

6-10 years of software development experience with distributed systems within large-scale environments.

Proficient in Java, C, or C++ and experience with scripting languages like Python, Perl, etc.

Experience working on large-scale, highly distributed services infrastructure.

Experience working in an operational environment with mission-critical tier-one livesite servicing.

Systematic problem-solving approach, strong communication skills, a sense of ownership, and drive.

Experience designing architectures that demonstrate deep technical depth in one area, or span many products, to enable high availability, scalability, market-leading features and flexibility to meet future business demands.

Able to effectively communicate technical ideas verbally and in writing (technical proposals, design specs, architecture diagrams and presentations).

Preferred Qualifications :

Demonstrable knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, distributed systems fundamentals, and cloud-native development.

Working familiarity with operating systems internals, networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.

Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.

Experience building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure, a strong plus.

Virtualization experience would be a huge plus.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
