  Position Specific Description

  NextEra Energy is seeking a technical individual to be part of the FPL Power Generation team. PGD Engineer shall be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the large scale universal solar facilities inside the state of Florida. This position will report to the Solar & Storage FL North Engineering Leader, under the Power Generation Team, and will work out of the Jacksonville or Gainesville area with travel to other locations within the North Region, which includes the territory from Jacksonville to Tallahassee within the state of Florida.

  This individual is responsible as the site safety manager to ensure all personnel and equipment onsite are safe and that the site/s are in environmental compliance with all required regulatory permit requirements. Under limited guidance, the individual will perform a variety of routine tasks, which provide experience and familiarity with Engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs after which may independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures while using judgment when making adaptions and modifications. Engineers on the FPL solar team will spend a significant amount of time in the field (outside), troubleshooting and repairing all aspects of our solar facilities. PGD engineer will be responsible for executing the maintenance of the solar site(s). This includes preventative and corrective maintenance, inspection of watch, environmental compliance inspections, contractor coordination, and overall management of site(s) performance. At times, PGD Engineer will be on-call and responsible for the FL North Region Sites, coordinating with the Renewables Operation Control Center, OEM’s, Vendors and Contractors as required. On call rotation includes weekend support for site visit, unit restoration, general maintenance, and responding to emergencies. As this is operations, which is a 24/7 endeavor, engineers are expected to maintain flexibility to support off normal operations with often include starting early and working late.

  Engineer should be highly motivated with a strong bias for action and capable of working independently as well as part of a team. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering highly preferred.
