Job Summary
Denver Health has an opportunity for an Intermittent/PRN Pediatric Dentistto join our Pediatric Dental Division. The Pediatric Dentist("Dentist") under minimal supervision, provides primary andcomprehensive preventative and therapeutic oral health care for infants andchildren through adolescence, including those with special health care needs.
Diagnose, prevent, and treat problems with teeth or mouth tissue. Performextractions, preventative and restorative dental work on pediatric andspecial needs patients. Provide instruction on brushing, flossing, the useof fluorides, and other aspects of dental care. Administer anesthetics andwrite prescriptions for antibiotics and other medications.
Essential Functions:
Patient CareDiagnose dental conditions. Provide patients with proposed treatment plans andcost estimates. Prepare diagnostic and treatment records. Study diagnosticrecords, such as medical or dental histories. Collaborate with healthcareprofessionals to plan or provide treatment. 60%(40%)Dental ProceduresDetermines appropriate dental procedures based on patient need including butnot limited to: pulp treatment, including pulp capping and removal of pulpchamber remnants, Prepares and restores carious teeth with appropriatedental material, Extracts erupted, impacted, infected, otherwisediseased teeth and, as indicated, for guidance and development of thedentition. Administer anesthetics to limit the amount of pain experienced bypatient during procedure, orthodontic treatment and space maintenance.(40%)DocumentationMaintains charts and treatment plans and completes required reports. TreatmentPlan Development and ManagementPrepares charts and determines that most appropriate plan for treatment. (10%)Staff Management (10%)
Education:
Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate Program Completion of AccreditedDentistry Program Required
Work Experience:
7-9 years Pediatric dental experience
Licenses:
DDS-Dentist - JCNDE - Joint Commission on National Dental ExaminationsRequired
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Medicine and Dentistry - Knowledge of the information and techniques needed todiagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities.
