Payroll & Benefits Specialist Job Description
Job Summary:
At Scull Construction the payroll & benefits specialist is an integral part of our company. The position is responsible for managing and administering our employee benefits including health insurance, life insurance, 401k and so on. They will also be responsible for maintaining and processing payroll on a weekly basis through Foundations software. The person will also participate in continuing and maintaining Scull’s onboarding program including employee orientation and benefits eligibility meetings. At Scull Construction you will work with an exceptional team that prides itself on doing some of the finest and most challenging projects in the northern plains region.
Salary:
Full Time: 32 to 40 hours per week
Pay: $20-25 per hour
Depends on experience

Computer proficiency including with Microsoft Suite
Experience with Foundations Software preferred but not required

Essential Functions:
Research, analyze and administer healthcare plans including medical, dental and vision benefits as well as disability and family leave
Coordinate non-salary employee compensation like retirement plans
Assist with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs
Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments
Assist with the open enrollment process
Advise employees, answer questions and enroll employees in benefit and compensation programs
Process various paperwork including disability, FMLA absences and employee life status changes
Appeal decisions made by insurance companies, resolve disputes and solve problems with benefits and compensation programs
Perform quality checks of benefits-related data
Be backup administrative support for front desk operations, including but not limited to greeting customers, answering phones, and electronic filing
Assist with other tasks as necessary even if below your skill level
Checking timesheets for accuracy
Entering data into databases and spreadsheets
Handling direct deposit requests and data
Processing paper checks for distribution
Acquiring all necessary signatures to distribute payroll
Processing wage garnishments
Making adjustments in pay for raises, bonuses and commission
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma required
Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
Job Requirements and Qualifications
2-5 years of related experience preferred
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and random employee pool drug/alcohol testing
Physical Requirements
Mostly sedentary work, but can frequently move about the office space
Operate standard office equipment, including computers and similar equipment
Capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance
Specific lifting abilities required by this job include sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or continuously to lift, carry, push, pull, or sit most of the time
Routinely perform work indoors in a climate-controlled shared work area with a moderate noise level
