ORANGE Domestic & Sexual Violence Counselor Advocate Job Summary: TheDomestic and Sexual Violence Counselor/Advocate is a member ofNELCWIT\'s counseling and advocacy team. This position provides crisissupport and short-term counseling and advocacy for individuals andfamilies whose lives have been impacted by sexual or domestic violence.The position is based in our Orange office. This is a full-time (35hours per week) non-exempt position and is part of NELCWIT\'s collectivebargaining unit. Essential Job Functions: Provide individual and groupsupport services, crisis intervention and short-term counseling forindividuals and families who have experienced domestic and datingviolence, sexual assault, and stalking. Develop plans for supportingclients, including safety plans, and provide information and referralsfor on-ongoing services. Provide medical, police, and legal advocacy forclients. Provide resources and referrals to survivors regarding housing,basic needs, and other community support services. Provide crisiscounseling and support for survivors of domestic and dating violence,sexual assault, and stalking who walk in for crisis intervention withoutappointments as needed. Provide counseling and advocacy on NELCWIT\'scrisis line for survivors of domestic and dating violence, sexualassault, and stalking as needed. Program: Provide individual and groupsupport services, crisis intervention, and short-term counseling forindividuals and families who have experienced domestic and datingviolence, sexual assault, and stalking. Administration: Maintaincase records and other data required by the agency. Complete allpaperwork as required by agency and funding sources. OtherResponsibilities: Attend mandatory staff anti-racism meetings. Provideemergency coverage for daytime crisis line and direct services whennecessary. All other job responsibilities consistent with jobdescription and designated by supervisor. Qualifications: AnAssociate\'s degree or higher in a relevant discipline and/or relevantlife and work experience. Basis computer literacy and willingness to usedata entry software programs for data collection. Knowledge of FranklinCounty area and resources. Ability to model and uphold appropriateboundaries in work with clients, co-workers, supervisor, and community.Commitment to social change through active participation in undoingracism, classism, homophobia, ableism, ageism, and all oppression.Willingness to learn about and actively use multicultural awareness andunderstanding in daily work. Commitment to ending violence. PositionStatus: Union position, 35 hours per week. Position Reports to: ProgramManager Hours of Employment: M-F, 9-4 p.m. Occasional weekends andevening hours.
