JobOverview: Thispositionisresponsibleforprovidingadministrativesupporttomanagementand supervisorystaff.Thepositionalsoprovidescustomerservicethroughroutineclericalandadministrative functions at state parkvisitor centers,offices or contactstations. This position can be full-time or part-time. _EssentialFunctions_: A. AssistsParkManagerandotherStateParkemployeeswithvariousadministrativetasks.Performselectronicand manual filing andmaintains organization inestablished filingsystems. B. May maintainfiles,updatepaperwork,ormaintaintrackinglogsrelatedtoalreadyestablishedcontracts,and volunteerhours. C. Maintainsannualtrackinglogsforvolunteerhours,uniforms,andotherparkproperty. D. Maintainsvolunteerandseasonalparkstaffpaperworkandfiles.Assistswithmaintainingvisitationstatistics. E. Operatescomputer-basedcashregister and complete daily accounting. F. Coordinate with coworkers, supervisors, public, and emergency services in emergency situations. G. Work with supervisors and staff in approving and creating monthly and daily schedules. H. May perform basic administrative duties such as preparing and distributing written documents and assisting with the organization and logistics of staff meetings and internal trainings. CustomerService A. Provides written and verbal information to visitors,employees, and fellowagencies regarding state park amenities, services, programs, and policies. B. Respondstoexternalandinternalinquirieswithgoodcustomerserviceskills. C. Disseminates informationonlocal attractions and places of interest, and other state parks in the area. D. CompilesinformationalmaterialfordistributiontothegeneralpublicconcerningPark's Divisioninitiativesandactions. E. AssistswiththeParksTourReservationProgram.Becomesfamiliarwiththeweb-basedreservation softwareandassistsvisitorsand parkstaffwith questions or issuesabout tour reservations. F. Explains and interprets the park,Parks Division, and Department programs and policies or directs inquiry tothe appropriatepersonfor further information BuildingMaintenance- A. Maintain cleanliness of thepublicspacessuch as visitor contact stations,visitor centers to include light janitorialduties and general cleaning. _PhysicalandEnvironmentalDemands:_ Some physical laboris required. Must be proficient in the use ofgrammar, spelling and punctuation and sentence structure. Must have excellent organizational skillsandbe able to communicate effectively orally andin writing., Theability tooperateanelectronic cash register following training isexpected.First-aid /CPR/ AED, certificationsmay require participation in training after hire. Ability to develop, useand maintaindirectories,personnel lists,and other parkor tourism related guides and reference materials. Must have knowledge of bookkeeping and record keeping.Mustbeabletofollowwrittenandverbalinstructions. Mustdevelopageneral working knowledge, includingsitelocation andavailable recreational opportunities for public recreational sites in the region'sjurisdiction. These include wildlife managementareas, fishing access sites, state parks, forestedlands, andmajor waterways. Must be able to establishpositive working relationshipswith co-workers and the public. Must be able toeffectively dealwithangry individuals whoare dissatisfied with Montana State Park policiesandactions.AbilitytounderstandandeffectivelyexplainPark,Parks DivisionandDepartmentpolicies and regulations tothepublic.Ability to use tact,courtesy, poise, alertness,and goodjudgmentinpublic contacts. Minimum Qualifications(EducationandExperience): The knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position are normally attained through combination of education andexperienceequivalent tohigh school diploma orequivalency and at least 1 year of job-relatedexperience.Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-casebasis. 1 year job-related college or vocational training in business or public administration, office management, park or natural resources management, accounting, tourism, marketing, communications, or otherrelateddegreesispreferred.
