  The role is a part of the Flight Planning Support (FPS) team within the Flight Dispatch Technical group located at the Integrated Operations Center (IOC) located close to the DFW airport. The Specialist – Flight Planning Support (FPS) provides 24-hour flight planning, NOTAM and navigation database support services for American and Envoy Airlines. Is a member of a team of PAFCA represented operations specialists. FPS is currently transitioning from the legacy FOS flight planning to a new state of the art system. We need people who embrace change and love to be challenged.

  What you'll do

  Ensures efficiency in operations through continuous database optimization efforts.

  Creates flight specific optimized routes for trans-Atlantic and trans-Pacific flights.

  Maintains flight plan and other database tables for city pairs served by American and Envoy Airlines.

  Reviews and edits NOTAMs for their impact on American Airlines flight operations.

  Obtains overflight permits for international or delayed flights as needed.

  Monitors and provides offload fix balancing information to American Airlines and regional partners.

  Provides interface with departments inside and outside the company as necessary.

  The job will continue to evolve with a focus on supporting the new rules-based flight planning system

  All you'll need for success

  Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  High school diploma or GED equivalency

  3 years of recent experience working in a flight operations environment for an air carrier, large corporate or military entity or directly supporting an operational database

  Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  Current licensed airman with FAA Flight Dispatcher license or military equivalent

  Associate degree or higher in Science, Aviation or Computer Science or equivalent experience

  Experience with database technologies

  Knowledge of flight planning or advanced navigation techniques

  Familiarity with EUROCONTROL IFPS, CFMU, and RAD

  Experience with ICAO NOTAM and government aeronautical publications

  Skills, Licenses & Certifications
