Job Summary
This entry/intermediate level position is available at Cope Generating Station is responsible for all functions relating to the operation of plant equipment, including regularly monitoring, maintaining, and checking plant equipment, isolating and tagging equipment for maintenance, and preparing equipment for operation. There is one position available that will be filled at either the Operating Technician I or II level, commensurate with the selected candidate’s skills and abilities.
This position requires employees to:
Work rotating shifts and some holidays.
Be available to respond to callouts and urgent needs 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
This position is trained to respond to and required to support the Plant's Emergency Response Team.
Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Minimum Requirements (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):
Operating Technician I (Power Generation)
Minimum of 0 - 2 years of work experience in mechanical maintenance or related field.
Prefer a working knowledge of pumps, valves, compressors and other related equipment.
Must be in good physical condition with ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs or more on a frequent basis.
Must be able to safely climb tall structures at extreme heights (fixed ladders and/or stairs up to 100 feet).
Must be available to work after hours, scheduled overtime, and callout work, and rotating shifts.
Must be able to work independently and as a team player.
Must have good communication/human relations skills.
Operating Technician II (Power Generation)
Minimum of 2+ years of work experience in mechanical maintenance or related field.
Must have a working knowledge of pumps, valves, compressors and other related equipment.
Must be in good physical condition with ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs or more on a frequent basis.
Must be able to safely climb tall structures at extreme heights (fixed ladders and/or stairs up to 100 feet).
Must be available to work after hours, scheduled overtime, and callout work, and rotating shifts.

Education Requirements
High school diploma or GED required.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving history.
