MISSION STATEMENT

　　The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.

　　SUMMARY

　　The primary purpose of the Nursing Assistant position is to provide patient care and customer services as delegated. The Nursing Assistant affects patient comfort and outcomes of care.

　　The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of work experience. Certified Nursing Assistants with BLS certification and experience working in a hospital environment preferred. Customer service experience in a healthcare environment is a plus.

　　Shift: 12pm-8:30pm, Monday-Friday with rotating weekends and holidays.

　　KEY FUNCTIONS

　　Assists Nursing Staff

　　Responsibilities include completion of routine patient care assignments as delegated.

　　Accurately record vital signs and other data, report abnormalities to nursing staff.

　　Assists Patients

　　Aids in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, greeting, rooming, and vital signs.Work Environment

　　Maintains environment in a clean, safe, and orderly manner.

　　Stock and maintain unit and patient care supplies and equipment.

　　Effective Communication

　　Escalates significant events and concerns regarding patients and their care to appropriate nursing staff.

　　Responsible for the security and confidentiality of patient information at all times.

　　EDUCATION

　　Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

　　EXPERIENCE

　　Required: None.

　　Preferred: Two years of Nursing Assistant experience in a hospital environment.

　　LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

　　Required: None.

　　Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant, BLS certification.
