*[NETWORK MANAGER*[INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT

　　*[SUMMARY: *[Position Goals[ To be responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and managing the local and wide area networks of an organization to ensure maximum uptime for users. Includes designing system configurations, documenting and managing the installation of a new network, and maintaining and upgrading existing systems as necessary. *Essential Duties Assist with overall management of the IT operations for the City and the Bristol Public Schools. Maintain usernames, passwords, and any other information needed to administer network access. Configure firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security. Responsible for entire network security, monitor performance of network, insure network speed meets the needs of end-user software. Supervises City technical support staff and assist in supervision of Board of Education technical support staff. Performs analysis of network needs and contributes to design of network architecture, integration and installation. Works with vendors to ensure sufficient computing resources deliver level of business performance. Evaluates network hardware and software requirements and capabilities and makes recommendations. Manages disaster recovery systems including backup, storage and retrieval functions. Coordinates third-party maintenance for network hardware, software and telecommunications services. Prepares and maintains documentation. Manage servers, network applications, and network resources. Recommend equipment or supplies enabling efficient functionality. Respond to emergency situations. Prepare other related documents (e.g. policies and procedures, reports, budget requests, system level procedures, network configurations).

　　**[KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:[ Extensive knowledge of configuring network devices such as routers, switches and servers. Extensive knowledge of information technology, including virtualization and cybersecurity. Considerable knowledge of fixed and mobile data and unified voice communication systems. Considerable knowledge of modern management information systems, and business process analysis. Knowledge of cloud computing, network infrastructure, application hosting/management, cybersecurity and resilience, and data analytics. Ability to balance numerous projects simultaneously and effectively. Requires excellent communication skills for positive interaction with employees, management personnel and other customers.

　　**[QUALIFICATIONS[: Bachelors degree in Computer Science or closely related field. Six (6) to eight (8) years experience managing a complex network infrastructure. Strong supervisory experience and interpersonal skills.

　　**[LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION[: Requires valid CT Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
