  Position Summary:

  As a Medical and Biomedical Sciences Liaison Librarian, you will provide research and teaching support to faculty, staff, students, and researchers in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. You will join the current Jacobs School liaison in building strategic partnerships within the school through collaboration with faculty and researchers while also providing support to a wide audience of undergraduate, graduate, residency, and fellowship programs. You will be an important part of the Health Sciences Library Services (https://library.buffalo.edu/abbott/health-sciences/) team, which serves users in the five Health Sciences Schools.

  As a Medical and Biomedical Sciences Liaison Librarian, your primary duties will include:

  Providing research support to and fostering relationships with faculty, staff, students, and researchers in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

  Designing and teaching curriculum-integrated instruction sessions in a variety of formats to meet the needs of diverse user groups.

  Providing expert search services for systematic reviews and other research projects.

  Serving as a member of the HSLS team and contributing to the research literacy efforts of students, faculty, staff, and key partners of the health sciences schools and their affiliates.

  Collaborating with fellow team members to develop new services and programs in emerging areas of health sciences education and research.

  Communicating current issues and trends in scholarly communication, open access publishing, and data management to faculty and staff in relevant disciplines.

  Developing engagement activities and communication to promote library resources and services to the university community.

  Demonstrating commitment to continued professional growth and active participation in professional activities and service.

  Based upon qualifications, experience, the University’s standards for continuing appointment, and Libraries’ standards in librarianship, service, and scholarship, we anticipate appointing you at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian. You will report to the Head of Health Sciences Library Services and work with librarians and staff across the University Libraries.

  Minimum Qualifications:

  Master’s degree in library and information science, or equivalent, from an ALA -accredited institution.

  Demonstrated commitment to advancing justice, diversity, inclusion, and equity in organizations.

  Familiarity with current and emerging trends, issues, and tools in research or education related to medical or biomedical disciplines.

  Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  Demonstrated knowledge of best practices and trends in information literacy.

  Evidence of the ability to do research, publish, and service consonant with the University at Buffalo’s standards for tenure and promotion.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Experience working in an academic library, health sciences library, special library, or with the health sciences research community.

  Knowledgeable about the concepts of Evidence Based Practice ( EBP ).

  Previous experience in instruction, with classroom teaching preferred.

  Experience using and providing instruction in using EndNote, a citation management software program.

  Understanding of current issues surrounding scholarly communication, open access publishing, and data management.

  Engagement in professional and/or subject discipline organizations, research, or publications.
