About Mechanical Design Engineer Manager

  Be responsible for managing a team of Mechanical Design Engineers within the Design, Installations, and Service Engineering COE in terms of workload planning, scheduling, department budgeting, staffing, mentoring, and training. This Manager will lead a group of Internals and Installations/Externals Designers located in Phoenix, Torrance, and Mexicali. You will ensure that Honeywell products are perceived as the highest quality in their category and continue to build brand awareness through effective engineering and design implementation. You will work closely with Analytical specialist functions, Manufacturing, Product/Project Managers, Engineering Testing Labs, and vendors to ensure product development objectives and schedules are met. You will develop and implement effective strategies to optimize our ability to develop products with contract manufacturing partners when deemed appropriate.

  Key Responsibilities

  The Mechanical Design Tier 4 people Manager will be expected to demonstrate strong adherence to the 5 Pillars of Leadership as listed below.

  Engineering metrics management, planning, and corrective action (VOE, Fill Rates, RevC Spend, Utilization, PLI, etc)

  Resource Coordination across the Portfolio

  U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

  Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

  YOU MUST HAVE

  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics

  5+ years in Engineering Mechanical Design or Project Engineering or an Analytical field within Engineering

  Minimum of five (5) years Gas Turbine experience.

  Due to Export control and ITAR restrictions, candidate must be a US Citizen.

  WE VALUE

  MBA is preferred.

  Leadership experience managing or supporting Gas Turbine development programs or engineering tools/processes.

  Able to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing, and highly competitive COE

  Driven to learn and evolve as a leader

  Fearless while managing risks with respect to change and transformation

  Driven individual that is able to form relationships with each and every employee based on trust and transparency, formulate future vision, derive Roadmaps, and recruit top talent

  Project Engineering experience. Strong project management skills and project engineering mindset with demonstrated ability to achieve objectives within resource and time limitations.

  Demonstrated ability to work constructively and cooperatively in a matrix/global environment supporting business objectives.

  Leadership history of building positive working environments, strong teams, peer group and customer respect.

  Demonstrated leadership capability and skills including planning, risk assessment, problem solving, decision making.

  Demonstrated budget and schedule management skills; established operating system for milestones, financial performance, fill rate, program status.

  Superior written and verbal communication skills.

  Ability to identify talent, perform skill assessment, and successfully recruit and retain talent.

  Ability to manage talent; includes development plans, priorities, and individual performance.
