About Manufacturing Engineer

  Position Description

  Job Summary

  Main Purpose of Job

  The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the long-term reliability of plant processes through technical support, and engineering activities/projects designed to ensure equipment/processes/workflows are operating safely, and efficiently and are maximized for optimal output.

  Essential Functions

  Process Management - 60% of the time

  Develops and maintains Bill of Materials (BOM) and routings for accurate costing and schedulingManages quote requests and provides accurate costs to the Project Management/Customer Solutions teamDevelops and maintains standard operating procedures, maintenance procedures, and work instructionsDesign/develop and/or revise process systems and work area layouts in a safe, cost-effective manner.Supports maintenance/production personnel in resolving process and product variation, equipment failure/variation using problem-solving/corrective action techniquesCollects, interprets, and extrapolates data from the production process to monitor current equipment performance against established baselines and applies appropriate corrective actionProvides input into planning and scheduling of projects and preparing capital expenditures to include primary processing equipment, material handlings, automation, and primary/ancillary process equipment for sitePlans, evaluates, organizes, and implements assigned installation, maintenance, and repair activities coordinating with other departments to ensure minimum downtime for production and maximum safety of employees.Provides training for operators and maintenance personnel as needed

  Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing - 35% of the time

  Tracks process bottlenecks and develops/executes improvement plansParticipates in WCM/Lean projects identifying/eliminating wastes through the use of Lean, 6 Sigma/WCM tools and methodologiesLeads execution of plant cost savings projects; reports plant cost savings performance monthly

  New Product Development 5% of the time

  Identifies new opportunities and solutions with cost/benefit analysis and makes recommendations to improve efficiencies.Assist in New Product Development as needed

  Required Qualifications

  Qualifications

  Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience required1-3 years of Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferredLean/WCM experience preferred

  Additional Description

  Other Knowledge and Ability

  Knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems preferredProficient in Microsoft Office Suite requiredKnowledge of AutoCAD/AutoCAD IT or equivalent engineering/design software preferredExcellent problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to work independently on assignments requiredFlexible and open-minded with excellent written and oral communication skills required
