Manages direct reports who superviseemployees in maintenance while responsible for the overall direction,coordination, and evaluation of the reports. Carries out supervisoryresponsibilities in accordance with the organization\'s policies andapplicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, andtraining employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraisingperformance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaintsand resolving problems. Ensures safe operations through adherence toEnvironmental, Health, and Safety programs and procedures. Responsiblefor the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of plant equipment andsystems, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, whilesupporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company. Initiates,implements, and manages the plant maintenance program based on bestpractices in the dairy industry, with an emphasis on planning/schedulingand preventive/predictive maintenance. Monitors the use and inventoriesof spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiatesreordering when necessary. Maintains and repairs maintenance shopequipment. Maintains computerized maintenance management system whenavailable for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance historyof plant equipment. Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makesrecommendations for improving plant operations and solvingmaintenance-related problems. Ensures that maintenance technicians areadequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenanceprogram can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effectivemanner. Conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptionsto determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenancesupervisors and technicians. Maintains and updates operating andtraining manuals for the maintenance department. Reviews the operationof plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanneddowntime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and to identifyopportunities for improvement.
