About IT Specialist (Applications Software)

  Summary The incumbent of this position will provide second level engineering support for Aeronautical Common Services (ACS). Responsibilities The incumbent of this position will provide support in software requirements analysis, design, development, and testing. Develop technical documentation, system diagrams and presentation materials. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements for software development projects. Analyze and document software requirements. Write code based on design specifications and to implement solutions to software problems. This includes JAVA, XML and SQL. Incumbent will utilize object-oriented programming techniques, client/server development, cross-browser development, and Unix/Linux skills. Develop and execute testing to ensure software meets requirements. Identifie and fix software bugs and troubleshoot issues reported by users or testers. Use version control to track changes to the codebase and collaborates with team members on code integration. Create and maintain documentation for code changes, updates, and features. Support the deployment of software to production environments. Identify and address performance issues in the software. Provide technical support to customers in person or via phone/email. Incumbent will provide guidance to lower-level staff on how to solve difficult analytical problems. Provide policy guidance and instruction to others, both internally and externally. He/She will perform assignments that may include shared responsibility for project/program management. Assignments typically require solutions be derived by interpreting and extrapolating from situations faced in the past. Provides recommendations to improve procedures. He/She will contribute to the preparation of complex reports and may act as a kay point of contact for both internal and external audiences. Incumbent may communicate the overall results of a study to FAA management, the aviation and aerospace industries, other transportation segments, and other external parties. In addition, the incumbent of this position often represents the FAA as a senior technical point of contact on projects, programs, and other work activities. Presents briefings to obtain consensus/approval of FAA environmental protection programs. Requirements Conditions of Employment We are not accepting applications from noncitizens. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is: Experience working with software programing languages such as JAVA, XML and SQL and experience with object-oriented programming techniques, client/server development, cross-browser development, and Unix/Linux skills.
