Summary This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Coast Guard, Eighth Coast Guard District; Operations Division, Office of Law Enforcement and Intelligence, Brownville, TX Responsibilities The position serves as an Intelligence Operations Specialist, responsible for collecting, reviewing, evaluating, interpreting, and analyzing law enforcement intelligence on all maritime threats in and around the ports and riverine waterways. Producing intelligence reports, disseminating tactical and operational intelligence to the port level operational commander, Coast Guard Maritime Intelligence Fusion Centers, Intelligence Coordination Center, and other Intelligence and Law Enforcement agencies. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Collecting–Conduct overt human intelligence, imagery intelligence and other law enforcement intelligence collection. Researching and Analyzing – Obtain, review, evaluate, interpret and perform first order analysis of law enforcement intelligence on maritime threats. Report Writing– Produce field intelligence and field analytic reports. Liaison– Perform liaison functions with the US Intelligence Community, Law Enforcement agencies, CG members and maritime partners. Communicating– Write, speak, brief and communicate via several methods to decision makers, intelligence personnel, law enforcement personnel, CG members and maritime partners. Qualifications Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line work. Specialized experience includes: conducting human intelligence or law enforcement intelligence operations; conducting intergovernmental operations and liaison activities; writing intelligence collection reports and analysis; researching and analyzing intelligence topics; briefing intelligence topics in a public setting; semi-autonomous work as an intelligence officer, law enforcement investigator, or special agent. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
