  Summary Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Hydroelectric Mechanic B. Duty Location: Clark County, Nevada Responsibilities The duty station for this position is located at the Hoover Dam, NV. This position is targeted to the full Hydroelectric Mechanic journeyman-level. Work performed by the Hydroelectric Mechanic B includes: Performing work involved in maintaining, testing, and repairing all equipment in a hydroelectric powerplant and pumping stations. Overhauling, repairing, evaluating, and performance testing turbines, generators, motors, air compressors, pumps, pressure regulators, eductors, valves, pipes, penstocks, intakes, spillways, diversion dam, and wasteway gates including appurtenant mechanical controls. Erecting scaffolding, platforms, and hoisting devices. Dismantling, reconstructing, precision measuring, welding, machining, repairing, and operating machinery. Operating cranes, hoists, trucks, and industrial tractors, and rigging incidental to lifting, moving, dismantling, assembling, overhauling, and/or repairing hydroelectric powerplant and pumping plan machinery and related equipment. Examining and troubleshooting to determine the extent of repairs required, materials, or parts needed, and to estimate the time required for completing repairs. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. You must be suitable for federal employment, determined by a background investigation. You must maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times as the position requires operation of government vehicles on government and public roads. Failure to maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times will result in removal from the position. You will be required to obtain a successful pre-employment physical examination by a licensed physician certifying your ability to perform the duties of this position. A physical exam may not be required if a comparable agency approved examination was performed within the last 12 months. The cost of the exam will be reimbursed by the agency. Qualifications Your application materials must demonstrate sufficient experience and training to perform the duties of this position without more than normal supervision. Qualifications will be determined on the basis of information submitted within your resume and responses to the assessment questions. For information about qualifications for Federal Wage System positions please, visit OPM. Minimum qualifications for trades and labor positions are determined by evaluation of job elements. You must meet at least 2 points on the screen-out element(s) and obtain an average of at least 2 points on all of the job elements in order to be considered qualified for this position. The Journeyman Level Hydroelectric Mechanic B must be fully skilled in at least 1 of the following trades: Mechanic, Machinist, Pipefitter, Welder, Crane Operator/Rigger, or Millwright. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires a current, valid Driver License. Failure to provide proof of such license will cause you to be rated ineligible for this position. You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including any selective placement factors if applicable, by 02/02/2024. Education This position does not allow substituting education for experience. Additional Information You may be required to serve an initial probationary period. Current, permanent Federal employees who are selected from this announcement may be required to serve a probationary period. Promotion Potential: If you are selected at a lower grade than the full performance level, promotion(s) may be made at a later date without further competition. Identification of promotion potential does not constitute a commitment or an obligation on the part of management to promote you at some future date, and will depend upon managerial discretion, the needs of the organization, and the demonstrated performance of higher-level duties. This position is targeted to the full Hydroelectric Mechanic journeyman-level.
