Duty Location: Clark County, Nevada Responsibilities The duty station for this position is located at the Hoover Dam, NV. This position is targeted to the full Hydroelectric Mechanic journeyman-level. Work performed by the Hydroelectric Mechanic B includes: Performing work involved in maintaining, testing, and repairing all equipment in a hydroelectric powerplant and pumping stations. Overhauling, repairing, evaluating, and performance testing turbines, generators, motors, air compressors, pumps, pressure regulators, eductors, valves, pipes, penstocks, intakes, spillways, diversion dam, and wasteway gates including appurtenant mechanical controls. Erecting scaffolding, platforms, and hoisting devices. Dismantling, reconstructing, precision measuring, welding, machining, repairing, and operating machinery. Operating cranes, hoists, trucks, and industrial tractors, and rigging incidental to lifting, moving, dismantling, assembling, overhauling, and/or repairing hydroelectric powerplant and pumping plan machinery and related equipment. Examining and troubleshooting to determine the extent of repairs required, materials, or parts needed, and to estimate the time required for completing repairs. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. You must be suitable for federal employment, determined by a background investigation. The Journeyman Level Hydroelectric Mechanic B must be fully skilled in at least 1 of the following trades: Mechanic, Machinist, Pipefitter, Welder, Crane Operator/Rigger, or Millwright.
