About Human Rights Reporting & Strategy Lead

  Job Description

  Hybrid : Position does require an employee to be on-site full-time on an average of three (3) days each week.

  The Role:

  As the Human Rights Strategy Lead, you will join our Sustainability Reporting & Strategy team. You will have the opportunity to contribute to developing and implementing the company’s ethical strategy in operations, processes, policies, and goals. This role is critical in driving forward our ethical operations and sourcing programs in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where you will lead the execution. This will require a strong drive to thoroughly examine problems, a passion to uphold GM’s Supplier Code of Conduct and the ability to work with stakeholders to develop implementable solutions.

  Position Overview:

  You will have the opportunity to interface with senior leaders and serve as a subject matter expert on ethical sourcing and supply chain human rights due diligence within the company. You may also be called upon to act as a primary contact and represent GM in forums with suppliers and industry associations. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will actively contribute to sharing the GM story through various platforms and methods.

Building strong relationships with GM suppliers, industry partners, and associations will be a key aspect of your role, while ensuring alignment and collaboration both internally and externally. You will collaborate closely with various business units within GM, including Global Purchasing and Supply Chain (GPSC), Communications, Legal, Compliance, Public Policy, and others.

  What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  Lead Human Rights strategy and execution for GM operations

  Support ethical sourcing due diligence activities within GM’s global supply chain

  Support suppliers’ adoption of ethical sourcing policies, programs and procedures

  Benchmark and stay connected to external developments related to human rights due diligence

  Support the development of presentations for use inside GM and externally to communicate and educate others on human rights

  Analyze metrics and data and provide recommendations and continuous improvements based on scientific methodology and trends

  Identify internal training opportunities

  Serve as subject matter expert for all Human Rights processes, rules, and trends

  Develop and finalize Human Rights Roadmap

  Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  Prior Human Rights experience

  Bachelor's Degree Sustainability, Engineering, Human Rights studies or related

  Strong communication and presentation skills

  Fundamental computer skills including working knowledge of internet services, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills
