The HR Professional (HRP) has a level of specialized knowledge in the HR Field that is used to practice independent judgment and discretion to support internal customer groups. The HRP provides advice and counsel on Human Resource related areas such as employee relations, labor relations, contract administration, staffing, wage and salary administration, employee benefits, record maintenance, performance management, policies and procedures. The HRP acts as a subject matter expert in Tier 2 of the HR Service Delivery Model.
Demonstrate a friendly professional demeanor, exhibiting positivity and confidence when interacting with all levels of management and union personnel.
Ensure protection of personally identifiable information (PII) and confidentiality of employee and retiree data and documents.
Provide advice and counsel on merit/variable salary guidelines for management employees, and progression/general/merit wage increases and productivity incentives for union employees.
Provide advice and counsel on Human Resource Policies, Procedures & Practices (PPP), and other Company policies.
Provide advice and counsel on disciplinary matters for management and weekly employees consistent with respective guidelines and policies. Provide support with the preparation/approval of documents.
Provide advice and counsel on the preparation of performance evaluations for both union and management employees.
Advise and counsel departments/employees on compliance with corporate drug and alcohol testing programs, controlling lost time, accurately reporting excused time, NYS leave, FMLA and NYESSTA laws, FLSA, and administration of collective bargaining contracts.
Educate employees, supervisors, and managers on Human Resource PPPs, Company policies, and HR Information Systems. Educate employees on their role in self service functions in HR and Payroll systems.
Conduct training classes as instructor: Supervisory Skills, On-Trial/On Target, and Moms On it.
Act as a resource to the HR Operations support team by sharing experience and job knowledge. Stay current with HR trends and practices; which includes enrolling in applicable internal classes as well as attending external training.
Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant work experience Human Resources, or Labor Relations, or Employee Relations, Law, or equivalent.Preferred Education/Experience
Master's Degree Human Resources or
Master's Degree Industrial & Labor Relations
Relevant Work Experience
3-5 years Experience working in Human Resources. Required
3-5 years Experience using HR Information Systems (PeopleSoft or HCM Cloud). Required
Experience with a unionized workforce. Preferred
Experience with utility industry. Preferred
Prior supervisory experience. Preferred
Skills & Ability

Strong written and verbal communication skills and
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc. and

Licenses & Certifications
Driver's License Required
