Job ID337728 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyAcademic Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code9546 Employee ClassAcad Prof and Admin About the Job Summary of Position: We have an interest in the genetic and epigenetic re-programing associated with aggressive tumors including lethal prostate, breast and brain cancers. Our goals are to credential and mechanistically examine the role of several novel target genes in cancer. We are also interested in examining these hypotheses in both cell lines and patient tissue. This post-doctoral appointment is limited to a period of 3 up to 5 years, depending on training, satisfactory of performance, and funding. Duties: The post-doctoral fellow will work with Dr. Justin Hwang and will be assigned two or more research projects in which the individual will be responsible in progressing based on the following: 40% Design and conduct experiments and maintain excellent, detailed documentation. 30% Analyze and interpret data, prepare figures for manuscripts and presentations, maintain expertise in the relevant literature. Communicate and meet with Dr. Justin Hwang. 20% Write manuscripts, progress reports, abstracts, assist with grant-writing. 5% Present data at lab meetings, local and international conferences. 5% Assist in laboratory management, inventory, ordering, organization, and other miscellaneous lab duties. Qualifications Required Qualifications (Must be documented in application materials) 1. A PhD, MD or equivalent degree with extensive research training in the biological sciences 2. Skills in basic biology laboratory skills including sterile techniques, and proper documentation/recordkeeping. 3. Experience with cell culture techniques including transfection, lentiviral techniques and cell-based analysis of viability. 4. Expertise in molecular biology techniques including Protein, RNA and DNA isolation and handling for applications including immuno blotting and next generation sequencing. Preferred Qualifications and Experience 1. Preference with understanding or knowledge of examining genome-scale data in cancer cells. 2. Preference with experience in performing basic RNA and ChIP-seq data and pathway analysis (GSEA). 3. Interests developing high throughput functional screening or proteomics technology. 4. Interests in developing technology to examine tumor tissue. 5. Interests in learning programing and online tools to examine and analyze sequencing data.
