Here’s the Gist:
This position is for the newly created Global manager of the R&D Reliability & Failure Analysis laboratories in the Wolfspeed Reliability & Failure Analysis Department, which reports into the Wolfspeed general R&D organization. Primarily, this amounts to oversight management of the labs and the individual lab managers in Durham, NC, Research Triangle Park, NC, and Fayetteville, AR; with future labs planned in the US and overseas.
The Day-to-Day:
Ensure that the labs meet IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and AS9100D standards and manage lab floor spaceAdvise on strategic lab development and expansion in the US and overseas, as well as new equipment purchases and facility modificationsOversee management of lab tools, including maintenance, new tools, calibration, out-of-tolerance assessment, safety and continual improvementAlign labs on best practices including safety, waste processing, chemical handling, ESD, PPE and HAZCOMDrive thorough and rigorous documentation and alignment of laboratory proceduresEnsure oversight of the quality and effectiveness of training, cross-training for coverage, and development of new laboratory processesCollaborate and consult with other laboratories in Wolfspeed to align on best practices, ensure coverage without gaps and reduce inefficiencies and redundanciesTravel requirements can be significant but vary and are on an as-needed basis. 3 of the 4 labs are in NC and 1 is in AR. As new labs are opened in the future in the US and overseas, then travel requirements may increase.

Bachelors in physics, chemistry, materials science or engineering (electrical, chemical or materials)10 years’ experience in failure analysis and/or reliability of solid-state electronic devices5 years’ experience in management of peopleAbility to work in repetitive motions and pressure involving fingers, hands, and wrists, standing or walking over hard concrete surfaceThis position requires the lawful ability to access technical data, information, and areas controlled by United States export control laws and regulations.
