Reference #: GAFLUS202310191EXTERNALENUSWhat You Will Do:Our Geotechnical Practice is currently seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Pittsburgh, PA office. This individual will assist in the investigation, analysis, design and construction observation of a wide variety of projects including transportation, structures, and water resources.
The Geotechnical Engineer will provide strong geotechnical design experience with a focus on foundations, retaining structures, slope stability, dams, pavement, and other facilities requiring geotechnical design support and construction oversight. This candidate must demonstrate strong geotechnical skills and experience, exhibit leadership potential, and possess personal initiative and discipline to work both independently and in collaboration with a multi-discipline civil engineering team.
Other Responsibilities Include:Design and analysis of shallow and deep foundations for bridges, building, tanks, and other structures. Experience in support of PennDOT and/or USACE projects a plus.Analysis of earthen embankments including slope stability and estimation of settlement. Design of slope remediation and improvement methods including stabilization of landslides, rockfalls, and other geotechnical hazards.Planning of subsurface explorations and laboratory testing investigations.Preparation of geotechnical engineering reports, design drawings, and specifications.Construction observation and support during the construction phase of various projects.Assist in preparation of geotechnical cost proposals.Education | Experience:Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is required; Master's Degree with a Geotechnical focus preferred.P.E. license in Pennsylvania.5-15 years of geotechnical experience with an emphasis on transit and transportation.Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is preferred; experience with Microsoft Office Suite is required.Experience with geotechnical software including: gInt, SLIDE, RocFall, Group, LPile. GeoStudio and/or other relevant software.Field experience with construction observation activities such as micropile and drilled shaft installations, soil nail walls, earthwork and shoring is preferred.Strong analytical and report writing skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently and within a team environment.Company Overview:At Gannett Fleming, we believe in improving the lives of the people we serve.
