Summary:
Tetra Tech invites you to consider a rewarding opportunity within ourLakewood, Colorado, or other Front Range offices as a Geophysicist /Geologist Intern. This position requires the candidate to work in the officeor field regularly with our team to receive one-on-one training from otherstaff, form relationships with fellow employees with various backgrounds,and more fully and quickly integrate into our team.
In this role, the successful candidate will work primarily with ourgeophysics or geotechnical engineering teams, supporting the development ofgeologic site characterizations, mine reclamation and closure plans,figure development, technical reporting, and general project support. Aninterest in working with a multi-disciplinary team of geologists,geophysicists, engineers, and data modelers for various clients is a must.Additional project work may also include supporting other active mine andabandoned mine site projects, including environmental site monitoring,abandoned mine lands site evaluations, mine permitting and compliance, andengineering design for mine site restoration.
Your Role:
We seek an energetic individual interested in pursuing and supporting variouschallenging projects. The successful candidate will work closely withPrincipal and Project Engineers, Scientists, and Project Managers onvarious engineering and environmental projects. Duties will include officework and fieldwork, including but not limited to sample and data collection.
Office work will include the preparation of comprehensive inventories of sitefeatures; rapidly understanding, updating, and improving complex Excelspreadsheets; preparing technical memoranda and reports; preparing basicCAD or GIS-based figures; completing quality checks; summarizingenvironmental data for input into technical reports, and creating accuratedata
Strong problem-solving, time management, written and verbal communicationskills are required, and the ability to learn and integrate new skills andsoftware programs (including but not limited to MATLAB, Python, ArcGISPro, etc.). The position may require some travel, typically related tofield data collection, construction oversight, environmental sampling,and site reconnaissance. There will be a minimum of 60% of travel required for
Qualifications:Successful completion of junior year of a 4-year accredited university ingeology, geophysics, earth science, geotechnical, civil orenvironmental engineering.0-2 years experience.Education and career interests should be related to environmental aspects ofthe mining industry.Must be computer literate and know MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and AdobeAcrobat Pro.Proficiency in ArcGIS or CAD is a plus.MSHA and/or OSHA HAZWOPER certification preferred.Ability to travel and perform field tasks (minimum of 60% of travel required).A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations isrequired.Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record withoutrestrictions.
Target salary range: $22.00 / hr to $25.00 / hr. The estimatedisplayed represents the typical salary range for this position based onexperience and other factors.
