Purpose:
Under the direct supervision of the parking manager, and general supervision of the Director this position is responsible for monitoring the space count in the assigned garage and reporting all available space to the parking supervisor and the other garage coordinators to assure that pt/visitor parking patrons are made aware of parking availability at all times. Also this position is responsible for the garage environment including but not limited to cleaning, maintenance, and parking equipment. This position must provide customer service to all UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside patrons in a manner consistent with the hospital's expectation of service excellence. Must also adhere to the Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Code when driving either a patron's vehicle or a UPMC departmental vehicle.
Responsibilities:
When needed to do so, assist patrons in and out of their vehicles in a prompt and courteous manner.
Have no reported accidents/incidents on current driving record.
Communicate any problems clearly and effectively with all valets via radio using proper etiquette at all times.
Maintain a professional appearance to include but not be limited to grooming, uniform appearance, etc.
Must greet patrons in a professionally welcoming warm manner and exhibit the Basics of Service Excellence.
Must operate customer vehicles in accordance with the Pennsvlania Motor Vehicle Code.
Present constructive suggestions and ideas to improve efficiency.
Upon departure, ensure timely return of vehicle, verify the ticket stub and number, open door(s) and assist patrons into the vehicle if necessary.
Adhere to philosophy and standards of UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside by conveying respect, enthusiasm, professionalism, and a positive attitude in work situations with patient, peers, medical staff and visitors.
Coordinate and resolve as part of a larger team, patient parking issues that would conflict with a patient being able to access UPMC services.
Greet patrons with a smile, identify themselves, and direct the patron to an appropriate available parking area.
Provide full attention to a situation; offer assistance without being asked.
When required, provide assistance as a valet or to stack park vehicles as needed.
Utilize radio communications.
Respond to requests for information or assistance into the hospital.
Respond to the needs of patrons with wheelchairs or other physical disabilities.
Communicate with escorts, security and valets via radio using proper radio etiquette at all times.
Demonstrate sensitivity toward all patrons, using good judgment and being conscious of the emotional state of each individual.
Demonstrate ability to use independent judgment.
Monitor level of customer service and inform supervisor of any issues affecting a patron's satisfaction.
Work as a coordinator to direct vehicle traffic, acknowledge patrons' vehicles, and provide access to the medical center.
Coordinate incoming garage vehicle traffic to effectively utilize in a seamless parking system the available space in any UPMC garage or lot.
Identify a problem and take steps to resolve it promptly or contact the appropriate resource.
Must be able to move a vehicle safely to the staging area if needed (10%)
Report any damage or accident with a patron's vehicle.
Assist SHY supervisor as needed.
Operate Parking Dept. vehicles and note when maintenance is due and keep gas levels up.
Complete daily balancing of office cashier safe.
Monitor SHY parking and pay station equipment.
Monitor special event parking and capacity levels at the PUH & MUH garages during special events at the Peterson Event Center. Observe traffic patterns in and around the hospital campus.
Perform daily cash deposits from all parking garage locations.
Trouble shoots all parking equipment.
Call PSX if any problem is not repairable after reviewed.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Associates degree or other higher education is preferred.
Must have a driving record clear of any significant accidents or traffic citations and possess the ability to operate all types of passenger vehicles.
Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
1-2 years of customer service experience is required.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
