An on-campus presence and traditional in-person student mentoring is required for this position.
This position serves as an integral member of the nursing programs to assess, plan, implement and evaluate strategies for student success and retention in the nursing programs. They are responsible for teaching students in a small group instructional setting utilizing theory concepts and clinical application of knowledge, techniques, and skills. The Nursing Support Specialist provides support for students by identifying barriers to success; i.e.: time management, priority setting, study skills, test taking strategies, etc. They provide individualized student outreach to at risk students, connects students to relevant campus resources, provides academic coaching and support to students on an ongoing basis, monitors and tracks progress of students through graduation and the NCLEX exam. This position maintains communication with Nursing Program faculty, administrators and staff in support of students. They support and contribute to diversity and student success initiatives. Meet scheduled office hours, and participate in program and divisional teams, and in college-wide committees as requested. They must work effectively with other faculty, administrators, and staff in a rapidly changing team environment. Lab Instructors must remain current in subject area and teaching methodologies by incorporating relevant safety, quality, and evidenced-based practice recommendations.This is a full-time lab instructor position working 215 days/year. The position is primarily housed on LCC's downtown Lansing campus with the possibility of some Livingston campus, Clinical sites, and/or online assignments. An on-campus presence and traditional in-person student mentoring is required.
