  DESCRIPTION OF WORK

  The role of Forest Health Geneticist within the Bureau of Forestry (BOF) Division of Forest Health (DFH) entails the crucial responsibility of leading and managing various initiatives related to forest genetics, large-scale breeding, and forest enhancement. The primary objective of this position is to ensure the long-term sustainability and enhancement of the overall quality of forests within the Commonwealth. By conducting research and overseeing projects, the Forest Health Geneticist plays a vital role in preserving and improving the genetic diversity and health of forests, thereby contributing to the overall well-being of the environment.

  Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment.Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.Travel to be required to attend various meetings and to visit field locations and seed orchards.

  This position is eligible for an alternate work schedule (AWS).Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Spring Mills.Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email.   QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:Two years of professional experience in forest genetics; and a master's degree in forest genetics or a closely related field; orAn equivalent combination of experience and training that includes two years of professional experience in forest genetics.

  Special Requirement:All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.

  Other Requirements:is currently waived for this title.You must be able to perform essential job functions.
