  Job Description:NMS Labs is hiring multiple Forensic Chemists for our Willow Grove, PA and Warminster, PA locations!  The Forensic Chemists will perform chemical and analytical testing including the isolation and identification of chemical substances in forensic casework samples.  This person is responsible for specimen processing, test performance, reporting of test results, and the quality assurance and documentation of analytical processes.

  Other duties include:Handling and sampling of forensic casework samplesMaintaining the appropriate chain of custody of evidenceIndependently performing analysis of chemical substances utilizing chemical, microscopic, TLC, and instrumental methods to include GCMSGenerating, interpreting, reviewing, and releasing resultsPerforming routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of analytical instrumentationProviding expert testimonyPerforming and maintaining appropriate quality assurance and quality control proceduresEffectively communicating scientific findings to internal and external clients

  The Forensic Chemist must have working knowledge of analytical procedures including a basic understanding of analytical terminology, methods, and theory, and should be able to apply these to forensic cases.  A high level of integrity is required, as well as good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.  The Forensic Chemist must have the ability to follow SOPs, as well as compliance standards and safety practices.

  Requirements:A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required; 6 months lab related experience is strongly preferred.Degree must be in a chemical, physical, biological science, or forensic science from an accredited universityMinimum of 16 semester credit hours in college-level chemistry coursework above General ChemistryMUST HAVE  coursework and labs in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Analytical (Instrumental) ChemistryMUST HAVE  3 college-level semester credit hours in Statistics or be willing to take and pass a statistics course within one year of employmentLicensed by the Texas Forensic Science Commission within 1 year of hire, as applicablePreferred:ABC certifiedCourt testimony experienceTranscripts must be attached to the application to be considered.Physical Demands:Ability to hearVision (with correction) including color, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focusStanding, reaching with hands and arms, and using hands and fingers to manipulate instruments or equipment controls, computer keyboard, office equipment, objects or toolsMovement from one work location to anotherSitting and standing, sometimes for extended periods of timeLifting objects up to 20 lbs.Ability to travel as needed for court testimony.Exposure to intermittent or constant sounds generated by equipmentExposure to fumes, noxious odors and dustHandling of biological material and blood-borne pathogensHandling of toxic or caustic chemicalsProximity to moving parts
